Bladder botox-op 3 decision help please!

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has had botox for their bladder and whether they have been left without the ability to pass urine at all?

I have had two botox op’s already-yes, I am very lucky to be in this position. I am now ready for my 3rd op but I can barely wee by myself anyway and am wondering whether it’s worth having the op again? I get urges to go and have had a couple of near misses lately but what happens if I can never wee by myself again? I ISC up to 9 times daily and I don’t worry about this but I have this small nag at the back of my mind-“what if cure is found and I still wont be able to wee?”. I think I’m being stupid as living in the moment is the most important thing and there are so many ‘what ifs’ in life so I shouldn’t worry but I just need some opinions, advice, thoughts and experience.

Please help.

Thanks,

BFx

hi bf

i havent had botox although my bladder nurse assured me that it is an option.

i’ve noticed that i cant wee properly any more.

the ISC was for my retention but now if i didnt have my catheters i really dont know what would happen.

botox sounded great but then when i read up on it, i was put off by needing catheters for every wee.

unfortunately it looks as though i’m at that point without even having botox.

its a good job that i got over my horror of ISC.

in a way my ms just gives me my new horrors in bite size chunks!

i’m going to leave it until i see my bladder nurse next month.

good luck with your decision

Thanks for that Carole, I think you’re right maybe it’s the ISC; I probably empty my bladder more with the catheter than naturally so my body has just got used to the manual emptying and not the natural emptying. I really appreciate your reply as maybe with or without the botox I’d be at the same position. I would really recommend botox it has been fantastic and I wouldn’t be able to do all the things I do without it.

Kind regards and many thanks,
