Bladder - at last, something works, without side effects!!

For years I’ve been bothered with urgency and frequency issues. These have got worse over time.

I’ve been prescribed every drug known to mankind to try and deal with this. Until recently, the only ones that were any way effective also resulted in hideous constipation.

Recently, my patient GP prescribed mirabegron which worked reasonably well. As an experiment, he also prescribed toltolderone to work alongside the mirabegron. No good. The constipation returned. He then prescribed oxybutylin to work along side the Mirabegron. This. Combination is working great. Reasonable bladder control without the constipation.

I’ve gone from peeing 5 or 6 times during he night to 2 or 3 times a night. What a difference. The urgency has calmed somewhat.

Happy days.

Adapt and overcome.

I am happy to hear of this little victory and equally as happy to hear that you are the sort of person who allows yourself to celebrate such things.

And of course, many thanks for sharing what might be very useful information for others!

Oh hooray Derek. Bladder and bowel problems are the pits and we all seem to have some variant of one or the other (or both!).

So I’m really pleased you’ve got the bladder sorted.

I’m on oxbutylin patches now and found the same. The only side effect is a dry mouth. Mind you the GP said the side could be worse than the problem!!

I tried Vesicare before but they made me throw up. After 3 days I chucked them in!

hi derek

i take betmiga (mirabegron) and it has worked brilliantly until now.

maybe i need the patches.

Thanks for all the comments.

Just to clarify, it’s the tablets I’m on for both mirabegron and oxybutylin.

I take Vesicare no problems and helps with urgency & bladder spasms - guess were all different!

Hi, I’ve tried all that have been mentioned here and am seeing my URO next month to discuss botox

New meds like those above, were great for a while, but nothing stops spasms and occasional by passing.

Boudicca,

i think I have tried everything before in isolation, but it was only recently that the GP suggested a mix of two bladder treatments. And it was only through perseverence that we hit on the right combination for me.

Hope you find something that works for you.
