Wonder if anyone has any recommendations for a Beginners Pilates DVD.
I have RRMS and my nurse has recommended Pilates as exercise. I tried a class at work last week and found it too difficult. It was a class for all levels and I found it too fast paced and strenuous.
I have decided to just try something gentle at home. Any recommendations. Amazon has a few but finding it difficult to choose.
Thanks
hi hope
get a dvd which shows how to make the moves easier or harder.
that way you can start with the easy option, then move to the standard option and then to the harder one.
i used to go to a class where the instructor always showed us the options.
that was in the days before ms - the good old days!
good luck

Thanks Carole I’ll do that. The instructor I had also showed options for beginners but I couldn’t keep up - brain fog moment:)
Pilates is very good for us with MS. Strengthen core muscles - and stretch and tone. l had several one -to-one lessons - which were designed especially to suit my weaknesses. As l cannot get down and up again off the floor - they were nearly all with me holding on to my rollator for safety. And some done with me lying on a bed. Made such a difference to my balance and energy levels. Most of these exercises can be done all day long - for about 5mins a time - incorporated in daily ‘chores’. Even whilst standing at the laptop!! The stretchy thera-band will help the whole body with just a few simple moves. No need for expensive equipment or gym memberships. Try Tai-Chi - there is one for ‘older’ people with arthritis - which you adapt to your needs.
Yes, Amazon do have quite a selection at very reasonable cost.
It’s not quite what you’re after but this page goes through all the strengthening exercises with animations. If you could see a neuro physio and get them to assess and some guidance on what you need to work on would be great. 9 times out of 10 we all need to work on our core strength to get greater stability. Thank you snowbeetle. I probably won’t need a pilates dvd anymore.
