Hi there everyone and I hope you are as well as can be.
Just a wee question (I know you guys are the best for advice)
I am really struggling with lower back pain and the top of my legs really, really stiff making it so very hard to move.
I know how very lucky I am to be still ok but this has totally thrown me.
I have fully adapted life, and apart fróm being lucky enough to work mon-fri, which is beginning to be a struggle I am at home always, which is ok but I am reallly thrown with this new symptom, anyone else had this.
I truly do appreciate any advice.
Much Love

My guess is that a dodgy gait throws our body out of line and puts on additional strain, as our body struggles to compensate. I tried acupuncture a few years ago and found it greatly eased lower back pain.
The MS Therapy Centres tend to offer this treatment at reasonable cost and worth considering, if you have one in range.

Hi Mary, I totally get this, my legs are so stiff, my lower back at times terrible, I have a monthly back massage to help to ease it, it does for a couple of hours, then its back, but to be honest I just love the relaxation of the massage, so I’m quite happy to pay for it, the legs, well I take Baclofen, doesn’t ease it completely. Hope you find something, keep us up to date.

Thank you so much for your really helpful replies. It makes total sense that my dodgy gait would indeed play a major part in this current symptom.
I do take baclofen Jean and will surely look into both massage and acupuncture. Thanks again for giving me this advice. It’s reassuring to hear other people have it and it can be eased a bit. Just frightened me a bit when I was fine Thursday and on Friday this started. Ah well the bugger MS keeps on giving.
Keep well
Much love

That was a big thanks to you both Jean and Whammel.

This is the general advice for back pain on the NHS site, in case you haven’t seen it.

Hopefully, with a bit of gentle care it will start to loosen up soon.
I get terrible lower back pain from being in a wheelchair all day, but managed to get Voltarol on prescription and it really does ease the pain if applied at least a couple of times a day.
Thanks so much mh22.xx
Thanks whammel, have had a look and hopefully things loosen up a bit, you guys are so very kind with all your advice.

Hi marymcdermott
Totally get the stiff upper legs - especially the front of the thighs for me. I spend most of my day (still working too) at a desk, which is not great. To try to stave off the stiffness as much as possible, I start every day with 15 - 20 minutes of stretching exercises; then during the day I get up from my desk every half hour or so to move about a bit for a few minutes; and I do 15 - 20 minutes of stretching exercises before bed.
I usually have stiffness in the morning especially when I have just got out of bed. I usually spend at least an hour every morning on crutches but sometimes it lasts all day.
