Firstly, hello to everyone.
I am awaiting results from MRI and Lumbar puncture done 6 weeks ago.
I was referred to a neurologist after previous MRI’s for Trigeminal Neuralgia (which I had for 5years) showed up speckled areas in the brain.
Thankfully the TN is sorted after 2 Gamma knife treatments, but in the last year I was so heavily medicated (1200mg Tegrotol +1800mg Gabapentin per day) just to make the pain bearable, I was house bound and unable to function.
A lot of what I thought were side effects of the medication are still with me even though I no longer take them (fatigue, vision and balance problems) although not as severe, which leads me to believe MS may have “ramped up” in this last year, making the TN complication worse and MS symptoms more pronounced.
Before these problems I was actively into cycling, kite buggying and canoeing (even though i’m getting on a bit at 53) and bought a paramotor ready for when I got cured of the TN, now they sit gathering dust but I hope, if MS is confirmed, that my condition can be improved by treatment and I can catch up on Lost time.
I’ve noted from browsing the forum that a positive attitude and determination are as important as treatment and although non of us should have to deal with MS it’s comforting that we have a place to come together, united we stand and all that.
I hope I can be as helpful in offering any advice.
All the best.
