Awaiting results.

Firstly, hello to everyone.

I am awaiting results from MRI and Lumbar puncture done 6 weeks ago.

I was referred to a neurologist after previous MRI’s for Trigeminal Neuralgia (which I had for 5years) showed up speckled areas in the brain.

Thankfully the TN is sorted after 2 Gamma knife treatments, but in the last year I was so heavily medicated (1200mg Tegrotol +1800mg Gabapentin per day) just to make the pain bearable, I was house bound and unable to function.

A lot of what I thought were side effects of the medication are still with me even though I no longer take them (fatigue, vision and balance problems) although not as severe, which leads me to believe MS may have “ramped up” in this last year, making the TN complication worse and MS symptoms more pronounced.

Before these problems I was actively into cycling, kite buggying and canoeing (even though i’m getting on a bit at 53) and bought a paramotor ready for when I got cured of the TN, now they sit gathering dust but I hope, if MS is confirmed, that my condition can be improved by treatment and I can catch up on Lost time.

I’ve noted from browsing the forum that a positive attitude and determination are as important as treatment and although non of us should have to deal with MS it’s comforting that we have a place to come together, united we stand and all that.

I hope I can be as helpful in offering any advice.

All the best.

Hello Sunbeam! Love your positive handle! I admire your pluck in keeping the new flying machine and thinking about using it in the near future. Having MS doesn’t have to mean you can never enjoy such pastimes again! I would chase up those results, by ringing the neuro`s secretary. It wont hurt to ask.

Hi there.

Thanks for the reply, I called Neurology middle of last week and the secretary confirmed they had received them.

She said they had drafted a clinic note and once the consultant had checked it they would post them out, nothing today and my Gp hasn’t received anything so I’ll give it a few days.

I’m determined to get flying and if I can’t foot launch/land in the future (the motors are pretty heavy) I’ll look into a kart to fit it to.

I’m grateful for the knowledge and experience this site has to offer.

All the best.

I Rang the Neuro dept today only to find the consultant still hadn’t checked the clinic note! That’s almost 2 weeks since they looked at my results. The secretary said he was in his office and she would take them to him to check and get them posted. So a couple of days into next week I guess.

ok so things will be happening soon then. We do need to keep chasing stuff…but neuro`s secretaries are inundated with reports to get out…I know cos my daughter is one!
