Any bikers, CBT with MS

Hello,

Has anyone done a motorcycle CBT after being diagnosed with MS? I’ve been having a trawl around the internet trying to find information on doing a motorcycle CBT with MS but so far have drawn a blank.

The reason I ask is my wife has relapsing remitting MS and since riding pillion on my bike has been bitten by the bug and is interested in doing her CBT and getting her own bike. Her balance and leg strength are both pretty good and she’s an excellent pillion, I don’t really notice her on the back of the bike, so I don’t think she’ll have too many issues with riding a bike once she’s used to the controls. I’ve had a look on the DVLA website but can’t see any specific information on there. I just wondered if there was anyone with first hand experience. Any advice would be great fully accepted.

Thanks

David

David, there’s a ‘Bikers with MS’ group on facebook who could probably answer your question. It’s run by a guy known as ‘sheep’, I believe he’s built up quite a group. He occasionally posts here on the MS Society forum, but you should find him here…

Ben

Can’t see any problem if balance ok.

Just don’t forget to tell your insurance company. Shouldn’t effect the insurance.

Thanks Ben and J. We’ll look up that “Sheep” guy on Facebook. I don’t think there’ll be any problems because she hasn’t got any restrictions on her driving licence. We just want to be sure to avoid disappointment.

Cheers,

David
