Advice please :0)

Hello everyone,

Not been on for a while so hope everyone is well. To cut a long story short I saw my ms specialist last week after being ill for just over a week and we think ive had a blip with my ms. It started off with my eyes being off then went on to bad headaches, feeling very sick and just generally rotton.

I was off work for two weeks to rest as much as possible as instructed. I am now back at work and I have to say I still feel pretty odd, I have this constant feeling of a heaviness in my head, like my body doesnt belong to me (its a very weird feeling), my eyes still feel off balance to. Im still feeling sick now and then and slightly off my food still :(. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Its really beggining to drag me down and I just want to feel like myself again. :frowning:

Hi Kelly,

Yes MS can cause symptoms as you suggest but I suggest you confirm with your specialist they have done a test for APS antibodies to exclude Hughes Syndrome.

It’s probably not HS but confirmation would be handy as this can be easily treated; seehttp://www.msrc.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseaction/show/pageid/736

Good luck

George

Hi, sorry to hear how rotten you feel hun.

What type of MS do you have? I`m just wondering if it is RRMS and you are in an unusual relapse.

Perhaps your meds (if you are on any, that is) need a tweak, eh?

Or do you think you need to consider reducing your hours?

Hi Kelly,

Is it possible you have an infection or some kind of bug? These things always make my ms symptoms flare up as well.

Rest as much as possible. Make yourself eat little and often if its a bug. Darink plenty. It takes me ages to get over these things when ‘non-ms’ family members shrug them off in days.

Kelly I don’t want to alarm you but you are describing how I felt this week, I popped in to see GP about bladder problems and mentioned a strange headache and the out of balance feeling and she referred me there and then to the eye hospital and I was diagnosed with UVEITIS by an Opthalmologist that day.

The Ophalmologist was very complimentary about my GP and was amazed she knew to refer me as she would not have been able to see what the problem was in my eye. If it had been left untreated my vision would have been impaired and possbily dmaaged caused to the optic nerve.

I’m not diagnsoed with MS yet but uveitis/optic problems seems prevalent amongst MS sufferers.

I had been to my opticians this month as I had mild visual disturbance, but he didn’t pick up the eye inflammation.

Hope this may be of use, and if not…that you start to feel better soon

Thanks for all your replies so far

I have relapsing remitting ms, i have been on rebif for a year now. I had a load of bloods done when i was at the hospital last week so would that pick up any odd things? There also checking b12 again as i was very low last year.

I did have a optic neuritus last year so when i went last week he really checked me over and said he didnt think it was that again. He suggested maybe a bug or that ive over done things.

I just cant seem to shake this odd head feeling, its very unpleasent :frowning:

I’m not diagnosed so don’t know about the bloods but you do describe how I am feeling right now and the opthalmologist said that uveitis could only be diagnosed using a slit lamp with neuros dont use. Also the dammage has not got as far as the optic nerve…I’m not sure, but I thought the neuro was checking the optic nerve when he looked in eyes.

Hope you get to the bottom of it soon

Hello Kelly,

I am sorry to read that you are feeling so ground down at the moment. I always feel this way (like Teresa says) when I have a bug, or an infection is cropping up. But (unfortunately) I also feel like this at this time of the year. It took me ages to work out why, but in my case this is because the heating has gone back on - for some reason, my MS wants me to live in a tent, I do far better during the Spring/Summer when there is fresher air. Whatever is laying you low I hope that you can pin this down and soon start feeling much better.

Best wishes,

Moira

Thank you for your kind words everyone

Hi Kelly,

When I was on rebif my head often felt heavy and I did get lots of headaches, but no eye problems. I took a break from the rebif and felt much better. I am now on copaxone. Also I agree with Moira I always seem to feel worse during Autumn/Winter, much better in SPring Summer.

I hope you soon feel better

Cathy
