Hello, I have my 1st appointment with a neurologist on Tuesday and just wondered what I can expect? I was diagnosed with ms after an mri scan in august. The scan also showed up a problem with at least one of the disks in my back.
MS Docs don’t like dealing with things non-MS but absolutely get confirmation from your MS Consultant that he/she will “manage” the disk issue. I didn’t, got referred back to GP and am now fighting a rear-guard action. Thing is, MS Consultants use a scoring system called EDSS and your MS mobility score may be compromised or overstated by your other back issues. Important because your score may influence what treatments are offered to you.
Hi, first appointments will normally include a physical exam of your neuro signs ie eye/finger, reflexes, standing/walking ability.
He/she may want blood tests too.
It would be good to ask which type of MS you have, as this could mean which DMDs (if any) to try.

Thank you so much for the reply. I will do just that. I get really anxious when I’m not sure what to expect from something I’ve never done that before so this information has really put me at ease. Luckily my partner is coming with me so I don’t have to do it alone.
Thank you very much for the advice. I will be sure to bring up my back issue with the Neurologist And will hopefully get on some meds as my GPs have not been interested whatsoever.
