Your forum...

After the issue with the ‘your profile’ page being down (now fixed)… I wanted to get an idea of any other features on the forum you’d like improved, fixed, or bring back? Also, any new changes which you’d like to see?

We’ll look at serious suggestions and work on getting these implemented to make the forum work how you’d like it to.

Thanks,

Oliver

Hi Oliver

I’m guessing that it might not be possible but a chat room would be great. I cant find an MS one anywhere. I think it would help ameliorate the loneliness that some ppl feel.

I know the issue might be the need for moderators but could have it open maybe just once a day for an hour or so and use volunteer moderators. Also I think ppl would stick tio the rules anyways.

Hi Oliver

Any chance of a button to correct a posting? Often I see a mistake moments after I’ve posted. The only way of doing it right now is to copy it, delete, repost and correct. Somewhat clumsy. Plus, if we want to make a correction to a post that has been answered, their post would be deleted too.

Thanks Sue

I should have added that it seems like a great, friendly, and helpful, forum and well managed. But it does seem a little empty. Are there ways to attract more people?

of course,a chat function would be one!

But also more regular threads such as “how are you feeling today” or a goals thread. I know too many threads can get a little messy but maybe they could be subthreads under the existing main ones. So, for example, the goals thread would be under the existing everyday life one.

Goals threads seem to work very well on other sites. If there was one then I might for instance list my goals as finish X that Im working on, get back in touch with friends who have neglected since becoming ill, eat more omega 3 rich food. etc. Thing about a goals thread is that posting goals can be very motivating.

Thanks

Thanks Rupert and Sue, good points and I’ll definitely be looking in to these.

an 'edit 'feature would be good so we could correct mistakes, there used to be one but it was taken off soon after it was put on.i found it very useful and missed it when it was taken off.

Thank you, Oliver. As others have said, an edit button would be great, please.

Edit button, anyway of attracting more people the site is very quiet.

Hi Oliver - thank you for asking - I have to second Ruperts chat room idea. I think that would be great. Sometimes it would be nice to live chat as opposed to starting a thread.

Secondly if I can push my luck mobile friendly would be good to and would probably attract more people?? FB x

& chat room??

Hi there Oliver. I posted for the first time on the forum today and don’t really know what I’m doing as yet but it seems as though being able to have an actual conversation (chat) with somebody could be a good thing. It works with Amazon!!! Any tips you can offer for finding my way around would be gratefully received. Thanks

Hi sandy,

Thanks for your comment. A chat function is something which has been mentioned on this thread numerous times and I will look in to.

Regarding using the forum, our FAQ page may help you with the basics > https://community.mssociety.org.uk/forums/new-diagnosis-and-diagnosis/forum-faqs

I’m pretty sure when I first joined this site 20+ years ago there was a chat function (could be wrong but I’m sure there was or am I mistaking it with another ms site?)

  • I’m all in favour with all the suggestion s of all the others …

just don’t let it fade away.

this place has been my lifeline for 9 years now.

chat room would be ace.

edit button would be worn out with all my typos!

thanks
