Why does it have to be so difficult??

Just a moan I have been using Avonex since August 2011 and getting on well with it but still felt slightly nervous at injecting as could be quite painful some weeks. Then two months ago picked up my prescription and I had the auto injector pen which I love easy to put together and painless, autoinjector last month and then this month back to pre-filled syringeI queried with pharmacist as dr prescribed pen and they said they would look into it. Phonecall at work the following day I get told they have spoken to drugs company and they were told they dont ship auto injector off mainland UK so I got it by mistake!! Gutted.

Hi Tracey,

I don’t know about Avonex as I am on copaxone but my first kit came with an injector pen which can be used time and time again. Going by your post it sounds like yours cannot be used again so I would suggest try and explain to your Dr how much this helps you and if that doesn’t help try your ms nurse (if you have one) they might be able to get one for you.

Hi Claire The Dr’s more than happy for me to have it and prescribed it, it’s the drugs company that is saying they won’t ship auto injector off mainland uk. My ms nurse is phoning drug rep herself and if still no joy, I will go to the prescribing advisor to get her input as well. Thanks for your post. Tracey

Hi tracey, i dont understand why you cant get the avonex pen there! i once had a faulty pen and had to contact avonex (biogen) to report it and the pen was collected and returned by UPS to the usa! seems strange you cant get them? gd luck regards Tony.
