Hi all, any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. My wife and I have now separated. We met just over 10 years ago and my decline has been fairly rapid and steep. We bought a house together and have a 5 year old daughter together. My parents have put me up for now, but there’s only so much I can put up with, with having my daughter with with me in my old room. So my question is, who should I call for help? 8m maxed out on all of the benefits, but can’t afford to pay rent round here. Anyway, like I said, anyhelp would be awesome. Sorry if that made no sense. I can’t be the only one this has happened to.
Would rent be paid for if on benefits? Hope you get sorted soon.

contact CAB, Welfare Rights, any other such organisations in your area.
maybe a solicitor who does pro bono work.
as Jan said, if you are on benefits you could get housing benefit which could pay for rent.
have you got custody of your daughter because that is a significant expense?
good luck

I would contact your local council/ housing provider for info & guidance.has your house been sold?you could go down the line of being made homeless especially if the normal rents are so high- which is the same everywhere I think , rents are ludicrously too expensive.
Hello Simon,
I doubt you’re actually maxed out on benefits the benefit cap is £20odd thousand a year excluding PIP.
I think the bigger question is your housing,
so you got married and are now divorced, you have custody of your daughter, you bought a house with your former wife, what’s happened to that? You’re back living with your parents but they haven’t got a bedroom for your daughter, you need a two bedroom flat or house and as you’ve got a disability the local council should see you as a priority, however any share from the sale of your marital home will effect how the council deal with your application for housing as you are inadequately housed for your needs.
Carole is right you need to go to a welfare rights advisor like CAB, this is obviously more complicated than it first sounds.
