Hello, I’m undiagnosed at the moment but I am under investigation and have had an MRI scan that shows some lesions on my right side of my brain. At the moment my neuro isn’t convinced I have MS just yet an he thinks the lesions might be incidental findings. I had some persistent dizziness that got me a scan. I’m currently on a watch and wait.
However, last night I woke up after an hour of falling asleep with a completely dead arm from shoulder to fingers. It was completely gone- couldn’t feel it, move it or anything. It lasted about 1-2 mins and I got the fuzzy feeling as it was coming back to life and then normal again. I’m not sure if I slept funny or not as I can’t remember but in case I didn’t, could this be associated with ms?
Hi,
Most of us are not doctors on here, me included. My guess is that this could be an MS symptom, but could also be quite a few other things. It’s common to wake up with a numb arm, perhaps you were sleeping on it. I also know several people who’ve had symptoms like this due to carpal tunnel.

I’m absolutely no medic but I am thinking that lots of people experience dead arms after waking up. I know that way before MS I had a few such weird experiences. I’ve heard a few stories from people who have woken up and panicked when they found what they thought was someone else’s arm next to them - they could feel it with their ‘non dead’ arm. Tend to think that these were slightly exaggerated stories but I could relate to them.
From my own experience of MS I’ve never had anything that disappears within a few minutes .
