Woke up in the night and one of my hands hand gone completely numb. I was laying on my back and my hand was resting on my stomach, so I wasn’t laying on it or anything. I shook it about for a while and the feeling came back.
I went back to sleep and woke a few hours later and my right leg was completely dead, from hip to toe. I was laying on it, on my side, but it’s never happened before. It stayed completely numb for a few minutes and then slowly came back to life.
Does anyone else have this? Is it to do with MS, or would it last longer if it was? I don’t know if I am just sleeping funny - but it’s never happened before.
I get this a lot. Often with my left leg which is the worst, and also with the left arm which I don’t entirely lose feeling with, although I have had other bits of me going numb. I’ve come to the conclusion that it comes on more when I’m hot and that’s why I get it in bed a lot I think. I try to sleep as cool as possible now, with the window open.
Don’t know whether this is to do with MS. I’m undiagnosed as yet, but my blood tests show I’ve got some sort of autoimmune thing going on. I do think it’s to do with nerves though.
Hi i get this. usually my hands, both at once, like i’ve been laying on them even though i haven’t. Goes away quite quickly though compared to othe numb patches on my body that tend to hang around for a long time.
As the night time numbness is in the extrematies I wonder if its to do with blood circulation?
I’m not dx either but this one of the many mysterious symptoms hat happens.
I wake up nearly every night several times with numb hands and sometimes feet. I also think it’s triggered by my body over heating. Annoying more than anything!
I can understand your concern, clearly you are worried but these symptoms are quite common and are due I think to trapped nerves caused by your posture when you are sleeping. I honestly don’t think you have any reason to suppose that you have MS, and yes if it was MS it would last longer and be far more profound. By all means remain vigilant but try not to worry, worrying never helped anyone. You’ll be fine I’m sure. John
I also wake up a lot due to numb arms and legs several times during the night. It’s a weird sensation as the whole of the right side of my body is numb anyway so if it’s my left arm or leg it’s awful!
Thank you all for sharing your experiences. It’s good not to be alone. Woke up yesterday to a knock at the front door. Both hands were completely dead and it took me an age to get the door open! John/Outlook - I should have clarified. I am being investigated for MS since last October. Awaiting 2nd MRI for neuro to make final diagnosis, as he put it. Weirdly I have never experienced this kind of numbness before. Usually I might wake up and know I’ve been laying on one arm or something. But for both hands to be completely numb on waking is just weird! Happy Easter all - hope you’re all having a good weekend xx
I wake most nights with a dead left arm and leg, sometime can get rid of it and other times when it’s at it’s worst my leg generally doesn’t come back for a couple of days.x
