Vaccines today.

Okidoki, that’s another bit of progress :+1:

I had some of the vaccines in preparation for the DMT at 3pm today -

Shingles, tetanus, flu, meningitis - 2 in each shoulder.

I’ll be at another appointment in a few weeks for a couple more.

My shoulders are a bit tender, my forearms ache a little, I’ve had a couple of hot flushes and, I’ve got a slight headache. It’s nothing that a couple of paracetamol, a nice cuppa and, a good night’s kip won’t sort out.

All in all - not too bad.

Best wishes to you all :slightly_smiling_face: x

If I’d have known that I would feel like I’ve been hit by a bus today, I would have probably not had those vaccines. I almost didn’t. I had been looking into and considering going the self care route for this whole mess. All my life I’ve turned down their jabs and pills in favour of keeping myself in top condition and, apart from the odd minor cold over the years - it’s always worked well for me.

Ah well, I suppose I’m into the process now and will just have to see it through

Up yours MS. up yours man made drugs.

I’m going to finish this cup of tea then have a Jaffa cake, then walk the dog. A few things that I like should help me to be less of a grumpy prick today :crossed_fingers:

Now then, where are those ‘man up’ pills?

Have a good day all x

I’ve got some wallpaper that needs taking down in an upstairs bedroom this afternoon so, that may help.

I’ve still got 2 vaccines to go so, I’ll definitely keep that tip in mind.

All the best mate :+1:

Jon.

Wow @jthatcher what a lot of vaccines!!! I didn’t get offered half of those before starting Ocrevus but it sounds like you team are being thorough.

Comfort foods all the way at the moment

Hi @Cavworld thankyou for your reply.

Yes, they felt like a lot while they were going into my shoulders

My MS nurse also takes care of me for my epilepsy. The neuro consultant is good aswell. They’re both very thorough, probably because I had what they call an Atypical and quite nasty start to all this.

Comfort food is great. I am trying to be a good boy though but, tonight I’m cooking sweet and sour chicken balls with fried frice. It’s still good to have a treat from time to time. Plus, I’ve got the wallpaper off and, my missus likes my cooking so, Happy days :slightly_smiling_face:

Have a good evening mate :+1:

Jon.

Ooh you have just tempted me into getting a Chinese, unlike your wife, my husband isn’t so keen on my cooking :joy:

It’s a long, complicated road first with diagnosis and then treatments but you on almost there now!

You take care

Hi Clare. It’s a shame that your husband isn’t too fond of your cooking - you can’t beat a good home cooked meal :slightly_smiling_face:

I cheated a bit tonight - chicken balls from Iceland because I don’t know how to do that batter yet. I can make chicken or vegetable Pakora myself ok but, I’m still trying to figure out the Chinese takeaway batter.

Yes, it has indeed been a long road so far. This all started for me in late 2023 then, after all sorts of tests, I was finally diagnosed in March this year now, I’m at the vaccine stage then, a few more tests before neurology put me on my chosen DMT. Well, at least I’ve found out that I’m actually pretty patient and, I don’t like changes :person_shrugging:.

It’s nice chatting with you :slightly_smiling_face: x

Wow Jon ive shied away from injections, I never know what to believe. But if it works for you I’m so pleased. I tend to spend my life in isolation. Good luck

Thanks Maz :+1:

I Don’t mind the injections really. It’s the side effects that I’m not fond of- I’ve had loads of canulas, blood tests, a couple of lumbar punctures and a brain biopsy until now. I suppose I just don’t like not being in control of any of the process but, I’ll be administering my own DMT when it comes to it with the auto injector pens so, it’s not too bad and, it’s better than a relapse :+1: x

I cant really complain I’m not on any meds apart from pain killers. My legs dont work & my balance a rocky road. My bowel&bladder are my worst enemies. But hey I can laugh, joke drag myself up and refuse to be beaten. There is still lots of the old determined Maz in there. Im a warrior because I can take it. Be lucky

Good morning Maz.

Sorry to hear that mate. I consider myself quite lucky at the moment. The worst I really get for now apart from the dodgy eyes and epilepsy is the urgency to pee at inconvenient times.

I admire your spirit - I think we do have to keep the will to fight alive:+1:

Have a good day :slightly_smiling_face: x

Thankyou mate.

I wish I was till doing press ups but, I think I’m a little way off those just yet. I’ve had some muscle wastage. I think I caused frozen shoulders a few months ago by pushing it too far. Resistance bands are working ok for me at the moment though :+1:

Sounds like you’ve handled it really well, especially having so many vaccines at once! Hopefully the tenderness and headache settle quickly. Good luck with the next round of appointments.

Thankyou Henrey :+1:

To be fair, It wasn’t too bad really. I’m just not used to feeling rough like that so, I did get a bit grumpy when the effects came along. I’m hoping the next ones will be better :crossed_fingers:

I suppose they have to be done so, better to just crack on and push though it.

I hope you’re keeping well mate :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

Jon.

You were brave having lots in one go! Maybe better to get them all out of the way in less appointments though rather than spacing them out though!!

I felt rough doing 2 at a time spacing them out and found shingles jabs no fun at all! However, if thats how the vaccines feel would :100: take that over having the real thing any day!!

Hope the next ones go well for you so you are prepared & ready for your DMT. Hopefully you wont need it & feel better next time around, but if you can maybe plan a couple of days after next jabs to relax & recover… maybe queue up a few decent films on netflix and get in the jaffa cakes!
