I get spasms in my bladder, so feel like I want a wee an awful lot of the time. In particular, movement affects it, like being in a car. I test my wee myself about 5 times a week. No UTI. Just spasms.
Im waiting for botox on my bladder, really hoping that helps. Should be around the end of June. Will obviously tell all on here after the procedure.
But maybe there are others who’ve had it, or some other info to share??
Sue
as far as i know, there are several types of UTI.
i found this out after taking an anti-biotic from my gp then ringing the bladder and bowel clinic.
the nurse there explained about my type of UTI needing a different anti biotic.
for the last 12 months i have been taking a low dose (one per day) of trimethoprim and haven’t had a UTI since.
good luck because UTIs are really the pits.

Hi Rosie
One thing that could be the culprit is what you’re drinking, and how much. Caffeine irritates the bladder, so it’d be worth cutting down on tea/coffee/coke (I only have one or two cups a week because of this). Also, not drinking enough water can make things worse too. So increasing the amount of pure water (not squash) you drink could soothe things down.

Hi again Rosie
Dans’ is one of the best solutions. Sometimes when I’ve tested my wee, the leucocytes have been a bit raised (indicating inflammation) but the nitrites and protein are negative (because those are what show up infections). Therefore the result shows as negative. But, if I drink lots and lots of water over a few days, the inflammation is improved, I retest and the result is clear as crystal. So, drink lots and lots of water, and avoid the things that potentially irritate the bladder (includes caffeine, orange juice, squash, white wine, anything at all acidic), but maybe try a probiotic like actimel as well.
If you still have the symptoms by Monday or Tuesday, then get onto your GP, get another specimen tested and maybe speak to a GP if you can’t get to see one.

I always feel like I need a wee, but when I go it’s only a dribble. It’s awful xxx
Hi
Are you currently using ISC? I seem to remember that you are? (Not that my brain is that good at memories so I may have that wrong?)
If you are, and you’re only going a dribble then maybe you should be seeing your bowel & bladder nurse? If you’re not, then maybe you should consider it and see your bowel & bladder nurse?
Or have I got the wrong person? I’m thinking of a person who posted something similar quite a while ago.
Sue
Hi, I get that… really need a wee…just a dribble comes out. I don’t know if the following might help?
The continence nurse gave me a tip how to release more urine and empty the bladder fully. She said tap gently on the belly under the belly button with fingers when on the toilet as it disturbs the bladder and release more urine. This is working and I do it at home and when I am using public toilets as I sometimes find it difficult to urinate in places I don’t feel so relaxed.
