Trip to the cinema

This afternoon l went with two friends to the ‘Picture House’ in Stratford. We saw The Marigold Hotel - it was a delight. ln fact the audience all went ‘Oh no’ when it ended. lt could have gone on - perhaps they will make a sequel. So many well known famous tv and film stars in it. They looked as if they all enjoyed making the film as we did sat watching it. The hotel was for the elderly and the beautiful - so obviously suitable for us all. Celia Imrie/Penelope Wilton/Maggie Smith/Bill Nighy/Ron Pickup/ and the marvellous Judi Dench. lts only occasionally we go to the ‘pictures’ - we did go about a month ago and we saw The Artist a film that went on to win every award going. What a lovely way to spend and afternoon. --------------Pub Quiz tonight!!!

Hi F, sounds like you have had a lovely day, I love the cinema! and good luck at the pub quiz. Nicola x

I’m glad you made the effort to go, and that you enjoyed the film.

To be honest, before reading your post, I don’t reckon I would have fancied it, but I might be tempted to give it a try, now. I have quite a few days off coming up (company not doing very well, and encouraging people to take leave).

There are bound to be at least a couple of rainy ones, when I wouldn’t mind a good film.

Tina

Me and my husband went to see The Marigold Hotel film too yesterday (orange Wednesday) and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was better than I thought it would be.

We came second!!! Won a fiver - which went into the cancer research charity pot.

What a delight to read and yes you have convinced me to go and see the Marigold Hotel film. My friends have been recommending it too but I wasn’t sure whether I should bother but now you’ve convinced me I’m off to see it on Saturday.

So a big thank you, Mary

Ps I hope the Pub quiz goes as well xxx

[/quote] Well done ! And that was very nice of you putting into charity. Nicola x

Hi Nicola,

My OH and his fellow swimming pals from the local pool are doing a sponsored swim for a cancer research charity. The wife of one of his friends has a rare form of stomach cancer. Sadly, the couple had just retired from 30yrs working in the prison service. The swimmers are going to ‘SWIM’ the length of the British lsles from John O’Groats to Lands End. [downhill] - 70,000 lengths of the village pool. My OH swims 100 lengths every day - to keep fit after surviving a brain tumour and now type 1 diabetes caused by the steroids he was on. The swimmers age between young teenagers to young pensioners. They all have done many charity swims for local hospices in the past. The last one - they swam the channel - but in the local pool. Anyone interested its just-giving.com/Studley-Pool-Team.

The team have had their ‘photo’ in the local paper. Thankfully, the map of the British lsles was held in front of my OH’s SPEEDO’S - not a pretty sight. But a lovely shapely lass stood next to him. There’s got to be some perks.
