Hello, looking for some advice thank you. My Mum has had a flare up of trigeminal neuralgia. The medication Oxycarbazine which she can take if it gets really bad, knocks her for six, so tries to only take it if the pain is excruciating. She describes the pain as sparking at the moment so is not keen to take the oxy but the current flare up/sparking of TN is taking its toll on her. Are there any other medications which have helped to deal with the pain from the sparking or any complementary therapies that may help? Many thanks
Hi I’m really sorry your mum is going through this, it’s a hideous pain to deal with. Has your my tried the pain clinic? I’m awaiting an appointment to try different treatments. At present I’m taking gabapentin and baclofen for spasticity and it’s taking the edge off the stabbing pains. Someone else suggested to me Botox, I’ve never tried but when you deal with this on a daily basis you’ll try anything to ease the pain. Sorry I can’t suggest anything ease to help. I really hope your mum gets some relief soon.
