tomorrow`s visit

Afternoon all.

Tomorrow morning, at 10,30, some one is coming from Direct Payments re my request for extra care. Mornings are getting harder for me and my carer, to get everything done in 1.25 hours.

I am nervous about it and will let you know how it goes.

Wish me luck.

Hi Poll, I know it’s easy for me to say, but try not to be nervous. If you wouldn’t qualify for extra care, I can’t imagine who would! I don’t want you to take that the wrong way, but your issues aren’t trivial, are they? I think it was very naughty of them to try to frighten you off applying, by suggesting you might be stripped of some of the care you already get. Someone must qualify for these enhanced levels of care. If you wouldn’t, then who? What’s the point, if nobody ever qualifies? I think these scare tactics are used to save money by discouraging folks from applying for things they’d probably get! Tina x

Good luck poll hope it goes well for you. Barbara.xx

Good luck Poll I am sure it will all go well for you.

no need to be nervous Poll, you just tell them just how b****y hard it has become for you and your carer and tell them that you need more care now, hope it all goes ok for you,and you get the help you need.

Good luck Poll!!! You have every right to extra care, there is something seriously wrong with the system if they refuse!

Please let us know how you get on.

Hi guys and thanks for your replies and kind words…very supporting and much appreciated.

Yeh, as my carer was dressing me this morning, the phone rings…we look at each other and go ohhhhh. it was the woman from Direct Payments…karen…she asked if I had received her letter about todays appointment. I thought Oh no dont say hes not coming`…my carer read my mind…the call was to confirm it was okay for her to come.

Course it cuffin` was, eh?

She arrived and the usual pleasantries were exchanged and our Lucy had a good sniff around her and in her bag. I asked if she was ok with dogs and she said she was. Good.

Tea, coffee were offered and not wanted.

ok, ok, I know youre all wanting me to get to the nitty gritty and Im teasing you…well…

it went extremely well, better than I had anticipated to be honest.

Top bottom is that Im getting an extra 30mins each morning, 1 extra sleepover......(hubby is soooooo plased about that, as he loves his undisturbed nights upstairs), 1 days trip to a daycare centre, plus respite funding for my holidays.

So there you have it…a great result, eh?

I can start the new regime next week.
