Toast

Gone are the days when a shop bought gluten free loaf resembled a brick. The lovely new brands available from several supermarkets usually take care of my morning coffee and toast addiction.

But I have been away for a while and going away again on Christmas day, so I froze my lovely gluten free loaf.

It hasn’t responded well to this and is now too crumbly to hold together and stay up in the toaster.

Fresh bread is still the best by a long way.

I wonder if someone could offer me a nuggett of information which might help to preserve the integritry of my loaf if I freeze it?

Mark

Hi Mark, I don’t generally eat gluten free so this is guess work, wonder if you have tried toasting from frozen? Worth a try.

Dear Pat

Thank you. Easy when you know how!

Hi Mark

I’m with Pat on this - I always have toast from frozen gluten free bread.

Thank you Jody.

If you eat gluten free have you tried the new Genius seeded loaf? My own onion bhajis are doing the rounds again tonight as I am practising for dinner tomorrow - some guests are coming.

I’ve been gluten free for about 9 years and I’m glad to see there is much more choice now. It’s been a pain but, you learn to be ‘creative and resourceful’. I have tried Genius loaves [all] and probably all brands. Onion bhajis mmm… enjoy!

J, I’ve been eating gluten free for 17 years. I have a few gluten free cook books as well as recipes of my own. I’m sure you have too after 9 years but let me know if you want the titles.
