Tips or/and advice needed about the best way to carry cups of liquid from room to room without spilling.

When I am transporting liquid from room to room I can carry without spilling for a short distance as long as I am walking in a straight line but it’s when I have to turn corners or step over a thresh-hold I have problems. Then I have to set the cup down (sometimes it has to be on the floor), and “surf” it short distances before I can pick it up again and set it on something solid. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can overcome this problem?

Thank you for any answers I may receive.

Jacqueline

You can get a tray (or cupholder) fitted to some rollators and if you are not ready for that, then perhaps a thermal mug with a lid would help.

We have a one-handed tray, which I find extremely useful because it leaves the other hand free to hold on to things or hold a walking aid. They haven’t really caught on for some reason, but if you do a seach on the Net, you’ll find a few.

I’m not sure if me balancing something that contains liquid on a tray would be a good idea but it might be useful for carrying something else, thank you for the suggestion though, I’ll keep it in mind.

SpillNot Cup Holder actually works!

I take it you’ve used it? Please let me know. I would be sceptical just looking at it but, if you know for certain I’ll give it a go, it’d make everyday living a lot easier for me.

Thank you.

Hello,

I’ve got round this by using bigger cups, but only filled halfway, this is only useful for one cup. Any more than one cup I’ve got a kitchen trolley.

Also please ask your doctor if you can see an occupational therapist it sounds like you would benefit from an assessment, they can help you with information on aids that are helpful to people with impairments.

Same, I leave around an inch from fluid to top of mug.

Also have a Vacuum bottle that keeps liquid hot for 12 hours which I can fill up and then transport in a pocket. Use the bottle when I don’t have any big mugs available so I can top up my drink if needed

The bigger the cup, the heavier it would be which would be a problem for me, I do have an occupational therapist I might get back in touch with her (thank you for reminding me).

I’m sure I have a vacuum bottle, that thought didn’t even occur to me, thank you.

Only £7.99 via eBay. I’ve just ordered another one for my Dad :+1:

You can buy mugs with rubber lids. We had to use them at work if we wanted to carry a hot drink from the kettle area to our desks.

That might be what I need to do, thank you.

I was going to suggest some kind of non-breakable travel mug or a metal drink bottle, preferably one with a strap that can go over your shoulder or around your neck. Amazon UK has a variety ranging from 8-25 pounds.

I’ll have a look at what is available from Amazon, thank you for your suggestions.

I just walk VERY slowly.
Andy.

That’s fine if it’s just water or a cool drink, if it’s a cup of tea that you want to drink hot and not lukewarm it isn’t such a good idea but, your answer amused me and thank you for that.
