Walker for falls

Hiya

I’ve started having regular falls in my house (always resulting in me hitting my head on something), so have decided that maybe I need a walker for inside as furniture surfing isn’t helping. I’m looking at something that I can also transport a cuppa on from the kitchen to the lounge. Does anyone have any suggestions of any suitable sites that I could look at.

Am thinking that having 4 wheels wouldn’t be as suitable as the one I use for outside. Would that also be your thinking/experience/understanding.

TIA

Ring the Neuro Physio, your description sounds just like the ones they provide although Covid might delay being assessed. Ableworld sell them.

Take care wheeling hot drinks.

Hi Tia,

Great timing asking your question today.

Not sure if we can recommend websites on here, but just put things in a search engine.

Walking frames, walking frame caddies.

I use a tea trolley to get drinks and everything I need to my sitting room. I was having to wobble from pieces of furniture too! No alcohol involved!

I bought a couple of folding walking frames, one for house, one for car. wheels on the front and rubber ferrules at the back. I trip,so 4 wheels would just make me fall flat out!! . Bought a couple of large caribinas to attach my handbag, shopping etc. You get any equipment VAT free, you just say what your medical condition is.

I’ve just been given a lightweight fixed frame. OT suggested a walking frame caddy which arrived today. Was going to unpack tomorrow but as you asked the question I’ve just opened it.

Grey plastic like half a bucket about 20cms deep, with smaller section for mobile phone etc.

Tray sits on top which would hold a standard plate. Also a blue section, plate size, with raised bits to hold a mug.

Obviously haven’t tried it yet but looks just what I wanted.

Love finding things that make my life with MS that little bit easier. Also love sharing my finds.

Caddy only for standard frames, not folding.

so I would need to get a normal frame and caddy separately?

Yes. Buy frame and caddy separately. I use a company called Complete care. Frames about £30, caddy £24 at the moment as both are on sale.

OT may get you a frame if you ask though. Worth a try.

Go to complete care shop first. Good prices too.

I use one of these indoors and outdoors, it folds from side to side so can fit through small gaps. Indoors I have a tray to carry stuff. I also have both brakes operated by one lever. When I get tired I can stop and sit down. I recommend a 4 wheeler because I find 3 wheelers less stable. Good luck
