I suffer with tinnitus so was refared for an mri on my ears to see if they could spot an underlying issue.
Results came back after 2 weeks nothing wrong with my ears but abnormal activity in my brain that is presenting as MS. An urgent refaral to the neurology team and a spinal mri. I had my spinal mri yesterday only a week after the refaral was made. Im stil waiting to hear from neurology.
Looking at the symptoms i have had quite a few of them for quote a while. Just a few questions
How long does it normally take to get mri results back?
Am i been unrealistic to want ro answers before Christmas?
Will i have to change what i do day to day?
Any advice anyone can give?
I am 31, have 4 children 12 and under also work full time. Thankfully i have the most amazing partner. Not many people know. Work know incase i need time of work for appointments and my mother in law knows because shes a massive support in our lifes.
I am so scared and spend every quite second overthing everything. There is so much on the internet that i have no idea what to believe.
To be blunt it can take a while. My last MRI was done early October and still not had the results. They may want to do another MrI to look at any changes that appear over time before making a definitive diagnosis. It sounds like you are in the system relatively quickly, my situation has been a nearly two year process and still not guaranteed a diagnosis at my next consult. I wouldn’t expect anything before Xmas but if it does it’s a bonus. In the meantime live your life as best you can if your symptoms allow. You are doing the right thing by looking for support but also keep an open mind MS is hard to diagnose.
MRI results can take 2-3 months. You are the same person you were before. You still have to care for the family, go shopping etc. You can manage MS with medication, although it cannot be cured. Nobody knows what will happen in the future. Please keep a positive spirit every day. Science is progressing fast. MS is not what it used to be in the 80s and 90s. There are over 20 DMTs now. Sending you a virtual hug.
Thank you. I think because it only took 2 weeks for my last results it would progress a bit quicker. I dont get how people are dupose to live with all the waiting
Afternoon, I too suffer from tinnitus and have seen a tinnitus nurse at my local community hospital and she has literally saved my life. I wear bilateral hearing aids now, tiny things I can listen to music answer and my phone through them. Audiology nurse also programmed a special noise like breaking waves which I can activate by a press of a button on them it helps a lot so much so we’ve hired caravans on the coast where I can hear the breaking waves and it’s a game changer. I’ve been told my tinnitus is permanent and is here all the time but it’s trying to trick yourself into hearing other noises over the tinnitus…it took me many visits but I’m getting there. I also have RRMS so I’d ask if you could be referred to audiology nothing ventured and all that… take care
