I’m in a quandry. Been approved to get weekly assistance but am obviously very wary about the candidate applications/interviews/getting the right one. I do need help but the thought of getting it wrong and the stress of it all makes me think is it worth it?
Am I worrying unnnessarily and what are the guidelines/what shoulf I be on the lookout for?

hi hun,
do you have a cleaner for your house already?
sometimes they are looking for extra work and if you know them already and trust them in your home.then hopefully job done then,
however, your social worker should be able to give you a list of carers or different companies that they know to look at. you;l still have to make final descision tho.

Hi
Glad you are getting some help
You are right to be wary but let me tell you it is worth the admittedly considerable bother which comes with beginning to put things in place.
I have hired PA’s privately and through an agency. I would always go through an agency now because you have recourse should there be problems and the agency should have insurance in place, which is one less thing for you to worry about, tbh.
CRB checks only have to be done every 3 years as far as I can tell so if need be have any potential private applicants supply a new CRB. And, check references.

Hi, ive been using Direct Payments for around 16 months and think it has made a marvelous difference to me and my hubby
s lives.
I was initially going to advertise and felt daunted by the prospect of having to let a stranger in on our private lives.
but I was so lucky to have someone recommended to me by a friend who uses a wheelie full time, like me.
She has been with me through a lot of upsets and has made me feel so much better.
i also have my sis and her best friend as carers.
Now my hubby can enjoy a much earned rest when they take over my needs.
I dont think I would like to use an agency, as you cant be sure of getting the same person, and on time. Plus they often charge more than we are awarded.
But hopefully, you will get good PAs and enjoy life much more. I know i do.
