this one is for crying: Kirsty MacColl: Don't Come The Cowboy With Me Sonny Jim (Official Video) 3 of 5 - YouTube

this one for laughing: Barenaked Ladies - Be My Yoko Ono (Video) - YouTube

nice… x

love the songs fluffyollie

i saw barenaked ladies and they were good fun.

kirsty mccoll is brilliant, who couldn’t love her duet with shane mcgowan?

beatles have such a great back catalogue.

this thread makes up for the long lost, much lamented funnies!

thanks carole x

is certainly a great alternative thread, nice one.

BNL- superb live imho. whacked the beautiful south out of wembley arena (although it was some time ago now) as performers who they were supporting.

kirsty- saw her in northampton in '95 and she was amazing. a sad loss.

beatles- who wouldn’t have wanted to see them. so many amazing songs and fast evolution considering their short span. i was born 20 years too late.

gawd bless them all

yes fluffyollie

they were supporting the beautiful south when i saw them.

someone was selling their tickets so we thought we’d make good use of them.

i haven’t seen a live band for ages and that was the one thing that i wasn’t going to let go.

maybe we could do another thread on good bands we have seen.

I saw the beautiful south here at Bridlington Spa theatre just before they last broke up. 2003 I think?

They were back performing at the same theatre last year. I didn’t get to see them but my friend said it was a fabulous night.

My husband remembers them, when they were called the house martins-he’s knocking on yah knows

X

oh yeah- the housemartins were great. hard to imagine that norman ‘fatboy slim’ cook was playing bass…

i do like the beautiful south, but think that paul heaton the lead singer is a bit of a tool. i read his autobiography where he appears to condone football violence, so kind of gone off him…goo

live bands is a good idea for a thread carole- shall i do the honours?

Will that include solo singers too, backed by a band?

How’s it gaun folks, most days I have the oldies music on somewhere, the best, depends on mood, Ebony Eyes by the Everley Brothers, Candle in the Wind (original), by Elton John, Stand By Me by Ben E King, Caledonia by Frankie Millar, Ben by Michael Jackson and the tops, You Have No Right by Phil Collins, Brian

Kirsty Mc Call - l love her Tropical Brainstorm CD. ‘ln these shoes’ ‘Here comes that man again’ ‘Colombia 0’ super album that gets you jigging about - whether it is just your arms or like me hand on the rollator or wall with a few risky moves.

Some of the things we say on this forum really make me chuckle.

Who was it that used to say “it’s the way I tell em”

I can picture us now spacejacket. You with your rollator and me with my walking stick, swinging out a few dances-bring it on

frank carson… god i feel old.

i love to have a propped against wall/furniture wiggly, feet-still dance, and i know what music i love. but here’s a sad confession: the things that get me ‘arm dancing’ every time, are the theme tunes to hawaii 5-0 and boston legal… i can’t stop myself. now only my daughter and you know this.

2Blackcats - your secret is safe with us!

At a party - l was dancing with my daughter and friends - hands on the rollator - then l sat on the seat and my daughter grabbed the handles and started charging up and down and round and round with me draped across the seat with my legs up!! Everyone had a good laugh. [Oh, sorry, l forgot, we are not allowed to make folk laugh]

It’s too late, yah set me off

hawaii 5-0 was very popular at wigan casino.

was classed as northern soul.

so don’t apologise because it was a top tune in a niche market.

there’s just something about it that makes me happy. of course, i’m old enough to remember the original tv show, i loved the music then too. i’m having a second childhood .
