TGA Buddy mobility scooter

Hi everybody,

I had a wee test drive in a TGA Buddy scooter the other day - and loved it!! Does anyone have one? I’m looking for some user feedback before i take the plunge! I’ve tried a LOT of scooters, putting them in and out of the car etc, but this is the only one i’ve tried that I could actually manage independently - that being my whole purpose in getting a scooter!! - and fits nicely in the car boot.

So any info or comments much appreciated!!

Thanks,

Sarah

I bought a cheap second hand scooter not knowing how long I would ened it for…and you are quite right that it is sooo important to our independance. I cant disassemble and reassemble mine into boot and back out again as I don’t have the strength.

Its a pretty massive decision to make I reckon …so I will watch this thread with interest as this would really get me onto that next stage of recovery/independance, it’s great when my husband is there to do it for me but I waste energy walking on crutches when I’m alone and then i am a little wary of getting too fatigued to drive any distance.

I sound like a bit of a sissy but I found it a massive blow to be housebound for so long.

Keep us posted…its a bit like experiencing someone elses xmas day!

I’ve only test driven a buddy but I found it very good. I decided to go for a wheelchair because of the public transport angle but I would have chosen a buddy. I like the fact that you can fold it in half without dismantling it.

l liked all the TGA scooters that l have seen - and if l had not got my wonderful Tramper - l would certainly have gone for a TGA. lf you want a good off-roader - they do a threewheeler with handlebars like a motorbike - very strong and wellbalanced.

They are a good second-hand buy as well.

Happy scootering,

Hello,

Had a quick look at the spec of the TGA Buddy. I have a travelscoot dry cell battery, total weight is 18KG and folds up to about size of large golf bag. Taken it on trains, planes and cars. Would not be without one.

Take a look at the spec. I’ve written articles about it on my website www.aid4disabled.com. The article is http://www.aid4disabled.com/travelscoot/. It costs about Euro 1400

This bike is robust, well made and easy to maintain. If you go off-piste and its wet then there can be problems. Obviously being a 3 wheeler you have to learn to ride it but it does not brand you as being disabled. I think same applies to TGA buggy. It wins on a 12 mile distance, Travelscoot is 8. Remember distance is affected by your weight and going up hills. Get gross weight of TGA Buggy

Take care that you are not sold something the retailer wants you to buy rather than you buying what is right for you. I would not be without my trike or travelscoot

Good luck anyway,

Patrick
