Legs 11

Hi all,

I don’t post vry often but read every day and love this site.

I thought I’d post my recent experience incase it helps any one trying to make the same decision. Some of you may remember me asking for help naming my wheelchair last year (winning name Indie, thanks to Shepherdess).

Any how, I’ve been debating for months about getting a scooter. It’s a lot of money to invest and would it be worth it?

Yesterday I bought a second hand Liteway 8. It’s an 8mph scooter but colapses to fit in the car. Took it for it’s maiden voyage today and I’M IN LOVE!!!

Legs 11 managed curbs, grass, stones and rough terraine without even a second thought. I’m hoping it will get me back out in the countryside as I was a really keen hiker before ms took a chunk out of me.

I’m only 44 and never saw myself as needing a stick, wheelchair or scooter at this age, but for anyone trying to make the decision I’d say go for it. I feel it’s going to give me my independence back, and that’s after only one trip!!

Good on you Hun. Sorry to hear your m.s has taken a decline as know I was speaking to you when we both started rebif however love your positivity and I will not beaten stance… Keep on like that Hun. Hope your well and enjoy the scooter xxx

Fab to hear youve had such a great outng, I have a TGA breeze 3 and I love getting out in the fields with it (angus) I have joined the disabled ramblers, they meet up all over the country and some of the time you can Hire scooters if you cant get yours there, there are different grades of trails and I am hoping to do some real tricky ones, ours arent til later in the year so im going to try and join in a few others around the country and hire a scooter to go and have a nice couple of days away. Good luck-happy treking x

Kudos to you Shuffler and to your new 'stallion’

Hi Congrats on getting the extra independence. I am glad you find it so useful. I took the step and bought a mountain-trike for getting into the countryside about 6 months ago. It’s a manual wheelchair but with mountainbike tyres and full suspension. It’s fab and I love it. It’s great for kerbs, grass, mud and stones but also gives me a workout and plenty of exercise. Neil

Thanks everyone,

It’s going for a proper trial run today. Mondays were always a walking day with my mum, as its my day off, so we are going to see where we can get to.

Niel - I looked at those on line. They look really good, but the price was too much for me and there doesn’t seem to be a second hand market for them yet as they are so new. Glad you are finding it good.
