hi raychelle

i lost my taste buds early on in my ms war.

i lost almost 2 stone and my slim glamourous sister was jealous! i had to tell her i’d rather be fat than have ms.

a course of iv steroids brought my taste buds back and i’ve put on half a stone.

Hi Raychelle

Yes MS has varies hideous outcomes unfortunately and hits people with different things - its so unpredictable.

I lost my sense of taste and smell in 2007. Sometimes (but nor often) I get a sweet taste which is typical as I never liked sweet things - that’s MS for you.

In your case you should also know that this syptoms can come and go so you might get your taste back - there is always hope with MS that things will ease and things return - sometimes altered but sometimes as good as new.

Hi Raychelle I totally understand as my taste buds are dreadful, my husband says he only sees me eating the same things ! I told him yeh it’s because only enjoy the taste of certain things, everything else tastes awful !!! I also go along with Mary I have a sweet taste now that I never had before !!! Margaret

Hi Guys

Thank goodness I saw this post. For the last couple of months I’ve been thinking my cooking skills have seriously gone down hill. Nothing tastes right to me and my teenage son who normally hoovers up everything I make him has been leaving his food, complaining that it doesn’t taste the same as it it used to.

I thought my cooking was just ‘off’ but I suppose if my taste buds are not working properly then that’s probably why my cooking doesn’t taste right.

I didn’t think for a second that it could be anything to do with MS.

Yes Raychelle, my sense of taste has definitely suffered over the past year. I have to get my son to test everything for me now and don’t get the enjoyment I did out of eating.

Mags xx

I lost my taste in July and it’s yet to return. I had an MRI (which has shown new lesions) and a course of steroids at the time of my relapse. I too have to get my daughter to taste everything that I cook now as well. I am hoping it returns as I do miss it, more than my sight to be fair.

hiya

i havent been able to taste since june. the good news is that i am 2 stone lighter! will it ever return? who knows!
