Symptoms fade then return?

Is this normal?

Im un-dx, but will be next Thursday!

I am currently having a ‘relapse’ and have had iv steroids last week. my symptoms are numbness/tingling/pain/weakness and a tightness around my chest/tummy all to the right side of my body. They did seem to ease up somewhat yesterday…i had more strength in my leg, my upper arm wasnt as numb, but today its got worse again! My leg is very weak/wobbly again, My hand keeps going into a kind of ‘spasm’ almost cramp like although i cant really feel it i can see my fingers twitching/moving and the numbness is now up to my shoulder

sorry if this sounds silly, this is a whole new world to me!

thanks in advance

Hi Tracy,

Relapses can last anything from a few days to a few months, but that doesn’t mean people will feel exactly the same on every single day of the relapse. Most people find symptoms a bit variable.

It could depend on a variety of factors - how well you’ve slept, how much you’ve done, or tried to do - even what the weather was like (many people find warm days harder, although I find cold, damp ones the worst).

I think it’s quite common for people to feel a bit better - immediately attempt to do more - then find the increased exertion brings the symptoms back again. So you may have just got a bit over-ambitious at the first signs of improvement. I expect you ARE improving, but take it gently at first.
