Stress free place to live?

And Poll is a very nice Yorkshire woman.

Thank you. Shropshire is on to look-at list.

Town and plenty of countryside, what sort of area do you like?

After spending all day thinking and researching i have come to the conclusion living by the sea is out of the question.

A compromise is now needed. I am looking closer to where i am right now. A change of scenery is what is needed.

I am not a millionaire just yet so Stratford-upon-Avon seems to tick most of my boxes. Somewhere in the cotsfolds is not out of the question. A little house with a studio attached so i can continue my design work.

Somewhere that is quiet, lots of fresh air, and stress free is the best thing for my MS.

I have no debt, which has stopped my monster attacking me. I would recommend this to anyone.

This is the perfect time to start a new.

Krak…your comments come over as rather blinkered. How many folk from many other places are also rude and deluded.

I have lived in many places and I have treated everyone I meet the same…friendly. After all it costs NOWT does it? Same as manners… They cost nowt. You come over as quite rude yourself.

Can I ask you 2 questions please? Are you male or female and where do you live?

Cheers my little swamp duck!

If you do manage to find somewhere " stress free" to live, I’d be curious to know where. I think Stress Free is a state of mind rather than any place. Just my thoughts.

Malvern, Worcestershire, is really nice! Used to live there. Stunning! I now live on a Scottish island, also stress free!

Just to complicate matters …
Take a look along the Kennet and Avon Canal in Wiltshire

Start in Bradford-on-Avon in the West (comes under Bath Royal United Hospital).and work along to Devizes (comes under Great Western Hospital, Swindon).
RUH has a good neurology team, and 3 neurology nurses. (1 hospital based, 2 in the community, and the one who covers West Wilts is really good).
GWH has a good neurology team and 2 MS nurses (both hospital based).

There are MS Society branches in Bath and Swindon, and an MS Therapy Centre in Warminster.

It is a bit cheaper han the Cotswolds, as well.

OK Krak, I guess you must live in an area of Yorkshire which has a large population of not very nice people, what a shame!

Have a good day.

To add another one in favour of Yorkshire, Sheffield’s a cracking place. Fantastic MS team at the hospital, you’ve got the Peak District on your doorstep, it’s cooler than down South (if heat’s a problem for you), the greenest city in the country & the lowest crime rate, it topped a poll as the happiest city (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/sheffield-happiest-place-uk-according-1922749), and it’s so friendly that us men call other men ā€˜duck’. Also, Michael Palin’s from here.

I live on the Isle of Wight. Country and sea. Great M.S. Nurse, good physio. Gave me benefits with very little hassle. The only downside is it’s about 20 years behind the mainland and the ferry to get over to the mainland is not cheap.

I just have to chip in here. I’m coming to the conclusion that people are very tribal and if you like or even love where you live on a personal level you’ll give it a great recommendation. However, if you’re being objective you may say that may just be based on the proximity of your own friends, family, good health care and if you live in a ā€˜nice’ area, away from crime, poverty and ridiculously expensive housing.

I live in London - not known for its friendliness is it? But I live in a ā€˜nice’ are with a settled family friendly community, and voted by the Evening Standard as the friendliest place in London to live. Very green too. And access to all sorts of interesting stuff, as long as you can pay for it. Museums and art gallery’s may be free but theatre and travel isn’t.

Last year I was living in York, which I know from living in various places in Yorkshire years ago. I didn’t find it friendlier than London - in fact drivers were far less than in my London home, where drivers 9 times out of 10 to let me cross the road in our centre where there’s no proper crossing. Very beautiful tho, city and countryside.

But … once they’d established you weren’t a transient tourist passing through, I found people in York centre very friendly. They’d even speak to each other routinely on buses. I found that very sweet!

Not as friendly tho, as I have found South Yorkshire and Newcastle people.

Even bigger BUT, Liverpool is beautiful and a wonderful warm and community minded area. They’ll speak to you anywhere and they are witty and interesting. It’s not far from countryside and the sea. In fact it the best!!!

Note, I’ve missed out all the lovely areas I have never yet lived in. Beauty is beauty but there’s more to a stress free life than physical surroundings. It’s people, and services that generally do it. Plus having the money in your pocket for lots to enjoy in life rather than just pay bills.

I think people outside of London routinely speak to each other, not just on the bus!..it’s not sweet, just normal, tourist or not.

Living in London is not an option. Too expensive, Too polluted, too noisy, my stress would go up.

Worked in central London for 3 years. It has left a mark on my soul.

My short list is getting shorter.

It has to have a combination of nice and friendly people, fresh air, good facilities for MS living.

The search continues…
