Hello all,
I have just been awarded PIP after many months of complaining.
Now my next mission is to find a nice place to live. Any suggestions?
Is there anybody that can give me some advice?
Regards Anthony

Sussex by the sea is quite nice. Bit pricey if you’re coming from up North tho … it is nice living near the sea … except on days when you can’t get a damn parking space anywhere near it!!! GRrrrrrrr
Sue
Hello sue,
Thank you for your reply. Where in Sussex would you suggest?
Regards Anthony
Next thing, Anthony, you will ask us which car you should buy
But seriously, you need to draw up a list of what you want as a first step.
Do you want really good neurological services?
That is going to determine where you might look.
Do you want an MS Therapy Centre nearby?
That might narrow the field down a little.
Do you want to move from where you are?
Do you want city or country?
Those two need thinking about before you commit yourself.
Do you drive or do you need to be near a bus route?
How about shopping?
You get the idea …
Then, of course, comes the big one:
How much do you want to spend?
All you can take for granted is that you should really look for a bungalow.
Geoff
That to be honest depends on your budget. There are flaming expensive places (Brighton and Hove comes to mind) then there are marginally cheaper places like Littlehampton, Bognor Regis and Hastings. But in every area you pay the most for proximity to the sea. So it also depends on your mobility, in terms of how you can get out of your home and reach for eg the sea, shops, nice places. And what you want to get from your stress free place to live.
Clearly, if you’re a millionaire you can afford a beautiful sea view, but if you are closer to a zilchier, then perhaps you’d be further out and you need to know how you can access nice places.
Sue
avoid the North if you can especially Yorkshire (sorry Poll)
That seems a bit harsh. Surely the whole of Yorkshire is not off limits for a stress free life? There are some nice places, even in West Yorkshire. And you don’t want to bring the wrath of Boudica down on you surely?
Sue
Krakow, maybe?
ay, Boudicas listening? Nowt wrong wi Yorkshire. Do you know it is the biggest county in uk? There are huge varieties of towns, cities, villages...and yes, we even have a coastline, with lovely places, like Sarborough, Whitby, .......just be careful what you say......Yorkshire isnt called God
s Own Country for nowt, tha knows!
Where the chuff are you Krakowian?
pollxxxx
just adding a ps.to the above…
we now have indoor lavvies, electric lighting, even trains that go to London!!! ooo, you`ve got me riled now lad! or was that your intention? I cant resist a good debate.

Hello everybody,
Thank you all for your interesting replies. I have realised this process will not be easy.
I have come to the conclusion that renting a bungelow in the UK is my best option.
As i am now classed as a vulnerable person maybe my local council will give me some advice. Or maybe not.
With the housing crisis in the UK i do not think they will give me a place to live. So private renting is the only option left.
I am currently living in a terraced property with many steps and a tall staircase… plus 2x smokers. It feels like an obstacle course everytime i need a pee.
Contacting “Shelter” is maybe another option.
I just need to find out where to relocate to. I am currently in Warwickshire.
Regards Anthony
Being a Lancashire lass, there are beautiful places in Lancs…we have country, we have coastline. My appointments are at Salford Royal Hospital - i’ve had an excellent service from there so far.
Yorkshire is indeed very beautiful indeed too though so that’s an option
Doesn’t have to be just a bungalow though. I’m looking for a bungalow OR an apartment/flat. Either way as long as there are no stairs it’ll do nicely. (I can totally still do stairs - i’m just making sure i’ve got all bases covered “just in case”)
Juls
See, I told you, Boudica’s not a lass to be messed with. And she’s getting all excited for her cruise, she’s in a ‘take no prisoners’ kind of mood!!
Hello Juls,
The only reason for a bungalow is the access issue.
As a person with limited mobility, stairs or elevators are not an option.
The NHS, councils, and insurance companies do not like people who are not on the ground floor.
Also bungalows are not popular at the moment. More chance of getting one.
Anthony
lmao Poll !! you go girl.
you can take the lass outa Yorkshire, but ya cant take Yorkshire outa the lass .

Warwickshire has some nice areas too…Stratford for eg, but then it gets totally mown over by tourists…so not very serene I guess.
We once did the black and white village tour in Leominster area…very quiet and pretty…Herefordshire, is it?
if i was thinking of relocating, the first thing I`d be researching is the local neurology services…nowt less serene than having a less than efficient neuro service…now my own experience hasnt been a great one…Halifax hospital.
pollx
allow me to correct my uk geography…a subject I am keen on…Leominster is in Worcestershire.
apologies.
pollx
You tell 'em Poll.
How very dare they!!!

Yorkshire is certainly a beautiful county - the problem is - (not sure how to say this) - it’s some of the people.
Many are completely deluded because they insist on telling everyone who steps over the county border that they are ‘very friendly’ — problem is they’re not! — I think they’re trying to convince themselves they’re friendly.
And they’re often rude, their excuse being that the ‘speak their minds’
‘If tha’ does owt for owt do it for thissen’ seems to sum them up.
Having said that I did once meet a very pleasant Yorkshire woman - just the one though and only the once…
Shropshire is pretty and is relatively cheap (dont understand why) Lots of bungalows in Staffordshire, much underrated county, some stunning countryside here although Yorkshire and Lancashire would be on my look at list.
