Morning. Yesterday I helped with a street collection for ms and the 1 st person who gave was the man selling the big issue. I was really touched by this, then throughout the day I found that the well dressed people business people tended to power walk by. I know the regulations on not to shake the tin (hope my newly developed tremor doesn’t count)or approach people and ask them to donate and I thought I had a cat in hells chance of raising anything really. I just hoped it would be more than the £7 bus fare I’d paid to get there. I know it was more than that but don’t know how much it was yet and I was surprised at how many people gave. Lots of people shared their experiences of ms and were very positive about the ms society. I had a really good day. Just wanted to share. Thanks Lynn
Hi, I helped out collecting for our local MS centre yesterday too, along with a bunch of us in the Swindon (I only did an hour). It was easy to note that the people who gave most often were elderly, and they were were less affluent than the majority of passers by. We decided it was probably because they had seen more illness in their longer lives and were perhaps weren’t in so much of a hurry.
People are so generous and it warms the heart. I also decided that I would also try harder everytime I see someone collecting as its such hard work!

ur post made me smile. i had an encounter with a big issue seller in glasgow several years ago which i hope i will never forget. its not my place to judge how/why they have to sell the mag. u r spot on what u say re well dressed folk walking past but again that may be their only ‘good’ clothes…we just dont know eh but its human nature to assume-we all do it! well done u re collecting funds!
