i was down at newcastle airport on saturday to pick up my wife and son and on way home i stopped at petrol station not far from airport and i seen my first ever collection can for the MS society
are these cans commonplace in england as i’ve never seen one up here in scotland
so it felt good sticking a few quid in it and will be looking out more often for them up here
I did see someone collecting in Sainsburys the once, but not again and that was a good long while ago.
Compared to cancer charities and the like, MS collections don’t seem to be as visible.
Then again perhaps I am just not looking in the right places.
My son recently raised around £650.00 for MS Society by shaving off his long blond curly hair and after several calls we still never received a collection tin. He works in Westfield Stratford and the intention was to approach shoppers. Breast cancer charity was a lot more helpful.
I’ve only ever seen one in Wallis clothes shop, I ask the assitance about it, and she told me that Wallis try to help raise funds as someone high up knows of someone with MS, Jean x
Hi Stevie, I had a word with our fundraising team about your post and they asked me to post the following -
Apologies Stevie, thank you very much to your son for his support. Sorry you didn’t receive a collection tin - if you call Laurence on 020 8438 0728 or email ltickell@mssociety.org.uk we can have some fundraising materials sent out. Thanks a lot.
I had an (email) chat with Laurence earlier this year. It appears they are not really given out widespread due to the number that have gone missing! I have one for my ‘race results’ so guard it with my life! Check with your local branch and see when they are collecting. Am appearing in Bury Tesco on the 4th December
I run a small pub with my husband and have got a collections tin on the bar. I contacted my nearest branch and got one brought out. I believe in raising money for ms having it myself, i feel it important.
