they say it rains a lot in Ireland, this is true but that makes the good days great.
Ireland looks great

wonderful photos thanks for share. xxx
Love these updates! Have you been in Ireland this whole time? I still find it endlessly fascinating that it’s so easy for Europeans to just pop over to another country. Of course, it’s much the same thing if I drive to West Virginia or New Jersey (American humor here). ![]()
Indeed we had a 3.5 week tour with my car, trailer and mobility scooter. We drove about 2800 miles, including a journey of 500 miles home! In the last days we went to a wildlife park and saw some stunning rescued animals.
Gotta love that bear ![]()
lol. What a wonderful trip! So, where are you off to next?
Sadly any journeys will be inside my head for now, my wife is back to work to pay for bits of our great holiday. I am doing the sums, keeping my wife fed and editing some of the hundreds of photos which will end up in a photo book for all the participants of this epic trip. What is happening with your wildlife? any more sightings of the hummingbirds?
Mick
I’m sorry, Mick. I don’t know why, but I just assumed that you and the Mrs. were both retired now and free to do what you want. Darn the real world!
I’m still seeing the hummingbirds nearly every day, but I feel so bad because I haven’t put the feeders back up. There are still signs that the coon is around, so I wanted to wait a bit longer. I’ve seen my bluebird pair and a few Canada geese, but the only other birds have been the cardinals, which never leave.
My deer herd seems to be growing, but they have no consistency in appearing and don’t come as close to the house as the old herd. Mostly, it’s just before full dark when it’s too late to grab the camera and they’re right inside the treeline. There are 4 or 5 does, 4 fawns of varying sizes, and 1 young buck.
I retired (on medical grounds) in 2010 at age 49. My wife would love to retire but my pension does not cover the bills !
Keep enjoying your wildlife, whether you have a camera at hand or not.
Here are some more snaps of our recent trip, crowded beaches and pretty rocks from the Wild Atlantic way in Donegal.
I wound up nearly jumping out of my skin the other night! It was nearly dark, and i was out back alone. I just happened to glance up and see a small bundle of fur making a beeline for the porch. It was one of the smallest raccoons I’ve ever seen, with 2 babies that couldn’t have been 15 cm long. They were most unhappy to find me there, so they climbed the nearest tree and sat there chattering until I went inside. Now, if THEY’D been the ones who were eating my birdseed, I’d keep feeding them!
Baby racoons sound cute. We took a visit to the local coastal marshes and saw some cuties too.
Curlew - increasingly rare.
Avocet - beautiful and the symbol of RSPB
Baby Avocets
We also saw Egrets, Grebes, Swallows and loads of other ducks and seabirds. Then we got ice creams on the way home. What a great day.

Love the birds, Mick! We had a heron flying around the yard last night. I call them pterodactyls because of the way they look in the sky.
This photo isn’t clear, but I love it. The whole herd was in the field at the time, but I couldn’t get them all together.
Cute picture of the deer and fawn. We also use the term pterodactyls for herons!
Mick
My herd is growing! Last night, I got to watch 4 does and 6 fawns walk in single file out of the woods, each of the children following their respective mothers. That’s an extra set of twins that I hadn’t known were out there. With the 2 young bucks, I now have at least 10 that I know of. Now, if they all just stay there during hunting season…
Sounds brilliant
Hi NorasMom,
It has been a bit quiet lately. We are having very hot drought weather, but today was cool enough for a wander in the New Forest.
Hope all good with you.
Beautiful photos, as always! We’ve been hearing horrible things about your drought. It’s rather frightening.
Is it in poor taste to say this is the view from my backyard this week? My deer herd is now up to at least 13!
Lovely and green. Good to see a healthy looking herd👍
