hi, so I’m still under investigation, my neuro did quick exam and said normal, but I’ve had terrible leg stiffness/weakness affecting walking with pain. Seen a physio and they say I have over active reflexes and muscles are overtoned, I’m now waiting to see a neuro physio as the one I saw said cant help me. Physio did a very thorough exam, and picked this up, and said is typical of upper motor neuron lesion. I’m unsure what all this means? I have lesions found last yr on MRI but these were not active and not sure when they appeared as had a gap of 10 yrs between MRI. I had 2 bad episodes of new symptoms last yr, but not enough to confirm diagnoses , but now this I don’t know what to think. Can anyone relate? Thx
hi dusty
have you had a lumbar puncture?
an MRI of your spine?
not all lesions are on the brain.
talk to your GP and see what s/he says.
hopefully you will be referred back to neurology.

I’ve had lp which was normal, only had cervical and brain MRI, as neuro said lesion wouldn’t be anywhere else?! Can you get lesion lower than cervical? Thx for your reply xx
hi dusty
i believe that spinal lesions affect the legs.
i’m no expert but rizzo has a sticky at the top of the page about MRIs and what they mean.

Hi Carole, thx for your reply, I’ve just had a read, vey useful notes. I will see what new neuro physio tell me, I’m due back to my neurologist shortly too , so will discuss then. Moreover, it’s just making life pretty rubbish as the pain is bad at rest too, even at night I’m awake a lot with it, as I can’t get comfortable, hoping something can be offered to help it.
