Skin burning sensation

Hi everyone,
I’ve been having some symptoms for a few months and I’m starting to feel concerned.

In June I suddenly had a strange, numbness in my left foot. It eventually travelled up my leg and I had this for a few weeks. It changed into a burning feeling, as though my skin was next to a fire. The skin felt Fine when touched. This lasted until around 2 weeks ago.
Meanwhile I had the same burning in the other leg but it only lasted a few hours and stopped.

Today, after having nothing for a couple of weeks, I’ve stared with sudden burning in both legs, from the feet up to my thighs.
I recently had an eye issue too where I had a blurred spot in my vision. I went to the optician but he couldn’t see anything wrong. I failed the field of vision test but repeated it the following week and it was ok(but the bl8nd spot had gone by then).
I had optic neuritis 11 years ago and my MRI at the time was clear.
Anyone else experienced anything like this?
Thank you.

You need to report all this to your GP, including refreshing her or his memory about previous odd episodes.

I am sorry that you are having a worrying time.

And yes, everyone’s experience is different, but yed I have felt things along those lines. But neurological things can be maddeningly hard to get to the bottom of, and only time and expert medical examination will tell what is the matter and what you can do about it.

Thank you Alison.
I’ve been referred to neurology now. I don’t know how long the waiting time to be seen is, I hope it isn’t too long.

That’s good to hear. A waiting game now, as you say. I hope that you get an appointment soon.

Hi everyone. Thought I’d come back with an update and see whether anyone has any further advice at all please.
Following on from my first post, I had a head and then spine MRI both were apparently clear (a single T2 hyperintensity on the head scan). The neurologist reassured me and said the eyesight issue I had sounded like optic neuritis. He referred me onto neuro-ophthalmology but that was a year ago and I haven’t been seen yet.
I’ve mostly been ok since but in the last week I’ve started with pins and needles in one foot and the burning sensation in my arms. I’m debating whether or not I should ask for any further investigations. Any advice please?

You should ask for further advice, I think, yes. I am sorry that you are having a worrying and frustrating time.

I have a GP appt on Weds to discuss the above but today my bottom downwards has gone all numb. Thought it was from sitting for a while but ive been walking around and its the same. Has anyone else ever had this? I dont have a diagnosis of MS BTW but have had optic neuritis twice and I’m under neurology but no upcoming appointments x

I think your GP will be listening carefully when you tell him or her about your numbness, particularly if it persists/consolidates/develops or whatever. I feel it likely that this will trigger a hospital referral.
