Hi, I have rrms. I have been getting quite a lot of shooting pain in the right hand side of my head today. I have had this pain on and off over the years. Sometimes it is so severe ?? It only usually last for seconds. Is this a ms symptom ??? Does anyone get this ??? Thanks for any replies.
I get the shooting pains in the head that last a few seconds i hate them they are so painful, good job they only last seconds.I dont know what caused them but i have had them for years and after a while i put it down to another MS symptom.
I’ve been suffering this for a few days now - stabbing pains above and behind my left ear which last a few seconds. They are sporadic. I’ve tried timing them and they can be every 5, 10 or 20 minutes!
I’m PPMS dx 30 years ago and this is definitely a new one on me if it’s just another annoying symptom we have to put up with!

Hi, I get this too, my right side is most effected by MS and I get shooting pains on the right side of head, but I also get them on the left and when it’s the left I know about it, on this side it’s far worse than the right, lasts longer and it almost feels like my brain is going onto spasm, strange I know, but that’s the only why I can describe it, I’ve mentioned it to my nurse, who seems to think its definatelly linked to the MS.

This i have had since storms and i believe it can be down to barometer changes as its high in storms. since the storms have passed so have my headache pains. so not sure if that could be a factor, cluster headaches are common too in people with MS i have been told.
I think these are called Ice Pick headaches and I don’t honk anyone knows what causes them or how to treat them.
Sorry to jump on this thread late, but yes, I believe they are MS related. I get them on and off and seem to be triggered by stress like other MS symptoms. However, back in 2005 I was diagnosed after a 2 week stay in hospital after having these head pains that also left side effects for approx 10 to 15 mins after the pains hit. It affected the whole of my right side where I was unable to have full control of my body. I was unable to move my leg properly, I was unable to write while I was in the 10 to 15 mins after the pains and my speech was slurred. But was fine again until the next one. Since then I still get the pains, but not the other side effects thankfully.
