I suffer from severe, stabbing, stinging, burning right shoulder pain. When the pain kicks in, I feel the stabbing in one area of the shoulder(the pain does not radiate), and it stabs for about 10 seconds and then starts again9 in about 40 seconds and it lasts for about an hour. It kicks in multiple times per day.
Can anyone please tell me what kind of pain this is?
I’m sorry to hear this. I can’t say I know what kind of pain this is, whether or not it has a specific name, but I can say I get recurrent flashing sharp pains in the left of my neck (I imagine it like a cobweb of hot stingining electric pain on the side of the side, just under the skin) that can flash and flare - sometimes suffer and persistent, other times, it can fade. I notice it tends to increase with intensity, or stress, and at worst it can also do so for multiple times per day
like you, I hope there might be someone on this forum who could illuminate us - and I’m sorry you have to deal with it
It sounds very similar to what im experiencing. It could be MS related, im still investigating. Id love to know what kinda of pain this is so i can move on with my research.

I know ur pain James, keep fighting, and im glad u wrote what u wrote!
I can’t believe I forgot - I actually mentioned this when I saw my neurologist for the first time - weird flashy neck pains that come and go, sometimes bad, sometimes not - and he said some extremely quick, very sciencey name - cerebral spinal etc etc - that, in his view, was just another symptom, and another mark of the wounded nervous system. I wish I could remember what he called it; his breezy, easy confidence in stringing this thing together was weirdly reassuring. oh yeah. of course that’s what that was. anyway, his reasoning was my last relapse likely happened on the left side as that is where most of my symptoms are concentrated, and this flashing neck pain was just another piece in the puzzle. he didn’t pay it much mind, though
either way, I hope that’s some help. at least in my case it seems pretty clearly identifiable as MS, and it makes sense, as it started after the relapse
