I have severe outer hip and outer calf pain which is incredibly severe - the worst pain I have ever experienced. I ended up in A&E last week having been sent there by 111 after I couldn’t get a GP appointment. I was told they didn’t know what it was and given some oramorph. The pain has steadily been increasing over a few months so I am now on paracetamol, codeine, and oramorph as well as Siponimod, Baclofen 50mg per day) and Gabapentin (3 x 400mg). The pain is excruciating so I cannot understand why I’ve been told they don’t know what it is and why all the meds aren’t working. Any ideas?
Do they think it’s spasticity?
At present I’m experiencing a similar thing, I have pain and a tight hamstring pain around my knee joint and hip. I’ve got to wait until the 25 th for my doctors appointment, I Sam a physio at my doctors practice they wouldn’t do anything as they said it was neurological. Anyways, I’ve been on Pinterest and found some stretching exercises which have eased it a little, but you have to do daily . Hope it settles down for you, but I know mine has been going on now for a month and I’ve had 3 falls.
Hi. They are just saying they don’t know and as X-rays I had in Sept showed nothing other than normal wear and tear. They said I’m having all of the pain killers I can. I’ve said that it must be something as the pain is off the scale. It’s not sciatica as they did a test where I had to flop forward and they said if it was sciatica I would have been in extreme pain when I did that. I’m starting to wonder if it’s a nerve but not the sciatic nerve. Like I say the pain is off the scale. I need help to get dressed as I can’t put any weight on my right leg and my other doesn’t move independently because of MS damage.
Oh bless you that’s rubbish, and not the answer you’re looking for! Mine is worse when I turn, or walk up stairs and I’m unable to fully bend it. It could be that you’re having the wrong dose of medication, does gabapentin help? It’s a lot of medication to be on with no relief.Have you tried a muscle rub on your knee and hip? Have you tried acupuncture and cupping? I had that a few years ago for sciatica which really helped. The only thing I can suggest is some stretching exercises, but really you should see a physio first as they’ll be able to give you specific exercises to do to help ease these symptoms.
i have been having the same symptoms but it happens on the back of my calves. it happens in the morning, when I wake up the involuntary stretches in the morning are so painful they bring tears to my eyes the other day was so bad I didn’t know what to do. it lasted most of the day. and it gets worse when I try not to stretch. I am just venting coz I’m lost as what to do.
i have not been on the forum for a very long time, i thought i could deal with all these feelings by myself. i want someone to hear me and listen.
sorry to keep going on im also getting tingling sensations in both hands but mostly in the left hand
Sounds like it could be a relapse, have you had any recent MRIs? I’m guessing you’ve spoken to your ms nurse?
Would you say the pain it like bone pain?
I had a similar thing at the end of last year, eventually the pain turned into numbness. ATM the pain comes on when I’m in the shower and at night, luckily I do get a break. I’ve found that strength training helps, and also started on cannabis oil at the start of the year and that’s done wonders.
