Seizures/fits

Help. I have had another fit. I have secondary progressive MS, diagnosed in 2000. Several months ago I woke up as I was being taken to hospital in an ambulance after I had had some kind of fit. I had an MRI and saw the neuro and he said the scan did not show any more leisions and nothing had changed since my last scan. Last night I had another one. Is this something that can happen with ms? I don’t understand what is going on.

I’m sorry i can’t help but i have heard a couple of others on here before who have experienced seizures.

I hope you are having some help with this?

Could it be epilepsy? more investigations are needed.

Do you have a follow up appointment? surely this needs to be investigated further? It might not even be ms related.

If you have no follow up it might be a good idea to discuss it with your gp who will be able to refer you for tests.

Take care

Hi lovely,

I have MS and although it is not common, you CAN have seizures and fits. I often have them, they are treated with Tegratol but when I am really run down I still experience them. I often have small tonic fits as well. You can PM me for more details butI suggest getting in touch with your GP straight away and your nuero…they will be able to help you out.

Big love and best wishes during the ‘festive’ season. I hope you are OK!

It was thanks to fitting I got my dx! I had 5 grad mal fits every time an ambulance was called I don’t remember much apart from my dog being more affectionate. I had a l.p. and mri and although fits are not the norm in ms my consultant said it depends on where the lesions are. I can’t remember think it’s frontal lobe. Was offered eperlim but didn’t want more medication. It’s scary having fits not knowing you have fitted unless you have emptied your bladder or bit halfway through your tongue like me! I do know that I was fitting more when I was tired and stressed

Hey guys, thanks for responding. I have had this crap illness for 13 years and I never knew it could possibly cause a seizure. I have no recollection of feeling odd or anything just before it happens and no memory of having convulsions I just wake up thinking I’ve nodded off. When I woke up from this latest one I bitten my tounge and my fingers were very very swollen. I have an appointment to see the GP on the 4th jan about something else so i will tell him then. Why does Christmas have to get in the way. Bah humbug.

I had a seizure in August and am currently being investigated for MS. Initially neuro sent me a letter saying epilepsy in august. Haven’t seen them since this letter but have an appointment on 9th january when my MRI results should be available.
