Has anyone experienced a seizure due to their MS? Is it even possible that seizures are part of MS? I’ve never heard of it being a symptom but I had one in my sleep a few nights ago and the A&E doctor said it is most likely due to my MS and after checking my vitals they did no other testing. As soon as they heard I have MS they just dismissed it.
Hi, MS can cause seizures, although it’s isn’t common.
I used to think that it couldn’t and then I saw in an episode of ‘New Tricks’ a man supposedly with MS have a seizure. Next day I put on here how daft it was (this is a few years ago) and I got loads of replies from MSers who had seizures caused by MS or knew someone with MS related seizures.
However I don’t think the A&E doctor should have dismissed it.
Are you able to contact your neuro or MS nurse? If you are having MS related seizures you should see your neuro to see what med’s are available to control them.
Hopefully it will be a one-off, but I don’t know enough about it so please call your neuro.
Yes I had one a few months ago. Total surprise as I had not heard of them either. Still not got to grips to the fact that driving is now a nono, upsets me every time I think about it. Neuro said it was an acute relapse, seeing NHS neuro next month that wants me on anti epilepsy drugs, I’m not so sure… I’m going to ask for a new MRI to be done.
It wasn’t until I started getting myoclonic jerks (seizures) that I was tested for MS and have since been dx as having SPMS. Now I’m not suggesting for one minute that you have got spms just to say that the answer is yes you do get seizures with ms. Hope this helps.
