Hello - I’m currently undiagnosed with anything other than ‘complex neurological symptoms of unknown cause’. My previous MRIs were clear but I’m due to have repeat MRI on 26th November and a first EMG soon.
Most of my symptoms are sensory - buzzing, prickling, burning feet, waxy skin on my head and fingers etc. I also have jerks which have been violent and excessive in the past but reduced - they are currently slowly increasing again and even happened in my legs whilst walking the other evening. I have occasionally heard a quick sharp zing sideways through the back of my head whilst lying in bed. I possibly have l’hermittes if the altered sensation and buzzing in my arms on neck movement is this. I have a small pain in between my shoulder blades which is where I wonder if my symptoms go up or down from. Most of these have been present since a dreadful 2 month totally zonked and weak period a year ago from which I slowly recovered but was left with the leftover stuff above. The buzzing began in March and has never left - it’s in my feet, legs and pelvis.
My main point = Last night I couldn’t sleep until 3 because as I lay there (any angle) I had what seemed like electrical zings shooting up into my head and down into and out of my legs or arms. It was only slightly painful - mostly sharpness really - but they were a most peculiar, unpleasant sensation and totally totally scary. They were pretty constant but not there when I got up and walked about, only when lying down trying to sleep. I’m not sure how else to describe it as reading my description it doesn’t sound like I’m portraying it well enough. I even thought about A&E but history says they don’t have a clue, there’s nothing they can do and I would have been sent away as a hypochondriac (which I’m not). I eventually slept, but am off work today feeling quite numby in my left wrist/hand and mouth. It feels like I’m wearing hairbands on my wrist. I feel extremely ‘jet-lagged’ buzzy.
Sooo…have any of you had this kind of experience? And do you think I should just sit this out and wait for the MRI and EMG or what? I really don’t want to come across as a weirdo!!!
Thank you - Deb x
