Hi everyone Sorry to be a pest as some of you may have read I’ve a scan on the 12th march, Then today I’ve got an appointment in saying this is a reminder of your neurology appointment on the 13th which would be too quick for scan results. I’m thinking it’s maybe my ms nurse appointment as it doesn’t say who it’s with. Hope your all doing ok x
When i had my mri they had results same evening sounds about right x
When I had my first MRI I had results within the hour, but further mri’s results have taken approx 6 weeks Gray
Hi Em, I would check, just to be on the safe side. The pictures themselves are available immediately, to all intents and purposes, but somebody has to review them and produce a report. It’s the review and interpretation that usually takes the time. I’d be surprised if somebody had done this by next day, although it’s just about possible. I wouldn’t get your hopes up for a meaningful discussion of the outcome. On the other hand, I would have thought they should say if it’s “just” a nurse appointment. My letter always says: “You will be seen by Dr. C, or a member of his team.” A member of the team has always (so far) been another neuro - not an MS nurse. Tina x
I’m going to phone on Monday and find out what it’s for. If it is my ms nurse I’m going to see if I can have an appointment the same day. I live over an hour away from the hospital so bit of a hassle. Not that I’m complaining I’ve had excellent service from the nhs, Thanks for your replies X
Hi Em Like Tina has suggested I would check if they will have the results in time as my appointment got put back for that same reason. I had my MRI scan on 12th of Feb and was due to see consultant on the 14th. My consultants secretary called and rescheduled it until 2 weeks later so they have all the results. Have a nice weekend. Polly x
I’m thinking it’s ms nurse as it’s in the purple zone instead of the orange zone. My ms nurse is homed there and I see neuro in orange But I’ll phone just to check X
Hi Emfraserburgh I’m assuming from your location that your appointment will be in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. If so you normally see the neurologist and the ms nurse in the Allan Downie unit but I did see the neurologist on the ward the day after my MRI where he confirmed the results were consistent with a dx of ms. I hope you don’t mind me asking, will you be attending ARI snd if so who is your neurologist?? Ann Marie
Hi Emfraserburgh The Allan Downie unit is in the purple zone which is where you would see the neurologist and the ms nurse. I normally see my neurologist on a Monday morning as that is when he holds his clinic although I’ve just checked and I also always seem to see the ms nurse on a Monday morning too so it could be either of them. It usually gives you the name of the person you’re seeing at the top of the letter. Sorry I’m not actually bring that much help am I ??? Ann Marie
Hi Ann Marie yeah it’s ari. My neuro is dr gerrie I’ve always seen her in orange zone and on the ward Who’s ur neuro Are you from Aberdeen x
Hi Yes I’m in Aberdeen. My Neuro is Dr Coleman. Have met Dr Gerrie a couple of times, she seems ok. She’s my uncles Neuro and he likes her a lot. That’s quite a distance you have to come for your appointments. Isn’t there an ms nurse local to you? I always thought the ms nurses at ARI only covered Aberdeen but they must cover the shire too. No wonder that are always so busy. Do you know whuch one you will be seeing? I normally see Mharie and the other one is called Pauline. I don’t really know either of them too well yet as I’ve only been dx just over a year myself so have only had a couple of appointments. Due to see her again in June. I’m still learning how the system works myself but if there is anything I might be able to help you with please ask. As I said I’m pretty newly dx but my uncle was dx about 20 years ago so can easily ask him for info if I don’t know. Ann Marie xx
I’ve seen both Pauline and mhari in hospital then Marie a few weeks ago. I’ve met dr Coleman he seems ok too though when I said I couldn’t keep shoes on and he suggested superglue I wasn’t best impressed lol. I was dx in November. Dr gerrie seems on top of things. I was in hospital nov then appointment with her dec then saw mhari for relapse end of jan then dr gerrie the following week getting a scan next week, then me ari the next day then seeing dr gerrie to get my results with a view to changing appointments. So can’t complain. Have you used horizons at all? Em x
Hi Em. Yeah I was referred to Horizons by Mhari following my last big relapse. I was initially assessed by occupational therapy snd physiotherapy and was then given weekly physio sessions for about 8 weeks. I was then reassessed and was asked to come along to a weekly group physio therapy session. I think I attended that for about eight weeks and when it was finished I was signed off with a view to being re referred if it became necessary. My experience of a Horizons was excellent and following on from those physio sessions I joined an exercise class called otago which is in many ways similar to what they ask you to do in physiotherapy. I really enjoy these classes and I really feel that I am reaping the benefits of it. I am the youngest person in the class by about 25 years mind you but all the old biddies are lovely and we have a great laugh. Ann Marie xx
