Hello! I had an MRI a couple of weeks ago to check for possible MS. I was expecting to just receive the results via letter, but instead I received an appointment letter in the post scheduling another appointment with the neurologist. The letter is incredibly vague and doesn’t say what it’s about, and I am now wondering if this could be bad news.
Is it normal to receive an appointment for MRI results, even if they are normal?
Would love to hear your experiences
Hi Eggfried. It’s a long time since my diagnosis and my experience isn’t going to be much help to you - my wife worked in the hospital where I had my MRI and we found out within an hour of the MRI. Unfortunately , I then had to wait for a few weeks for ‘official’ confirmation. I suppose that in your case it’s possible that the MRI didn’t show up anything and the Neurologist wants to explore other possible causes of whatever symptoms you’ve had and / or test for other things. Equally, the Neurologist might want to confirm MS.
For whatever reasons, the NHS just isn’t very good at keeping people informed- I have an annual MRI and have to wait weeks to be told the results.
Really sorry to say that you might have to be as patient as you can until your meeting. I know that many others on this site find the ‘waiting in limbo’ period incredibly frustrating and I’m sure some will share their experiences with you.
All the best to you and best wishes for a happy outcome
Hi, try not to worry too much about it. I think it’s a very good idea to discuss the results face to face, with your neuro.
Write down a list of your symptoms and any questions you have.
It’s also a good idea to take someone with you as 2 sets of ears are better than one!
Let us know how it goes.
