Recurring UTI

Hi. I am new to using this Forum. I keep getting recurring UTI’s as scan’s have shown that I am not emptying my bladder. I started using catheters but I was advised to stop using them by the nurse at the urology clinic as I only pass about 100mls. I have decided to use them intermittently, usually before going out for a walk. I was told to start using D-Mannose tablets but they made no difference. I take a mirabegron tablet daily to try to ease urge incontinence. I only have about 2-3 weeks without any UTI and don’t want to keep taking anti-biotics, constantly. Any advice?

Hi Gad, welcome to the forum

I was getting fairly regular UTIs, so decided to get a suprapubic catheter fitted. It’s turned out to be a good decision. Far fewer UTIs now, and much easier to deal with than self catheterising. happy to answer any questions about it if you want to know more

Hi Gad
I’m with Dan, had my suprapubic catheter fitted a year ago and it’s the best thing I ever did. I was having UTI’s at least once a month that gave me a bladder stone. Now bladder stone has been removed, I can easily see if I’m getting an infection and best of all I can go out without worrying where the nearest disabled toilet is.
Just my point of view may not suit everyone.
Thanks
Sam

I had the same problem, last November I got a bottox injection in the bladder, things are going worse till then since I am feeling completely paralysed…( bladder and bowel as well).
, and cannot walk without aid anymore…
