Question about eyes

Hi Just wondered if this sounds like an ms symptom. My right eye started aching and hurting yesterday especially moving it to look at things but I don’t seem to have any vision problems yet. Vision is not quite as sharp in that eye when I cover one at a time but that could possibly be normal. Of course time will tell if it gets worse but couldn’t help wondering if it sounds like the start of something. Any thoughts? Mish x

Forgot to add it also seems worse in the morning and evening especially with bright artificial lights.

Hi Mish,

This is not an answer to your question that sounds it could be ON that only a Visual Evoked Potential would determine. See http://www.mult-sclerosis.org/opticneuritis.html

This could be a vast step forward in the diagnosis of MS mult-sclerosis.org

Thank you. I do have ms but have not had ON yet and was wondering if it sounded like the start of it. Will have a look at your link thank you.

Hi, yes that can be some of the symptoms of optic neuritis , if in any doubts about the sight you can get looked at in A and E at hospital , they tend to have more powerful observation tools in the hospitals as opposed to opticians , it was very difficult to spot the early signs of optic nerve imflamation they told me , another sign of O.N. would be lack of colour in the vision

hope all goes well

John

Thanks John May wait for now to see if it gets any worse. Trouble is so far it has eased up a bit during day to come back worse in the morning and evening. Still only started a couple of days ago so fingers crossed nothing else happens. If it does I’ll get it checked out. Thanks for your reply.

I’ve found many things worse in the morning or evening in particular , maybe it’s something to do with the extra heat we generate then , or in the case of eyes, also the different light , to be honest my O.N. can have a mind and a life of it’s own , I never know what little surprises it might add to given situations , even after nearly 9 years !

though generally I’m told ,O.N. can have very few ,and /or , very subtle symptoms in some cases
