Queens Square Bladder Stimulator

I was just wondering if anyone has tried the Queens Square Bladder Stimulator?

l have never tried it - but l do know it is a battery-operated device used for bladder-retention. There is a lot of info on the web - and you can buy one for £23 - lf retention is your problem - then it sounds a good idea. Did your urologist recommend it? Lets hope someone who has used one will answer your post. lts always good to hear from someone who has experienced it. Hope it solves the problem for you.

I didn`t know she was handing them out!

Soz, my silly joke!

No.haven`t tried or heard of them.

I am sure youll get a reply from someone who has. ill be interested to read what they say.

yes ive tried one a few years ago ( probably still tucked away in a cupboard). it didnt help me im afraid but the con nurse said some get good resuts with them. so worth a try. wouldnt like to use one in a public loo mind you as they are quite noisy… x

Yes, I used one for a while when I was retaining - but now I only tend to have a problem if I’m very tired, so haven’t used it for a while. As a rule, i can get away now with relaxing and strumming my fingers on my tummy.

I rate the bladder stimulator very highly on the grounds that it helped relieve my retention problem at the time AND taught me how to solve the problem longer term.

All that said, I’m RRMS so have trouble telling whether the improvement would have happened anyway.

I was given something which vibrated some years ago. Found tapping in the right area did the same job eventually. Its all to do with stimulating the nerves around or near the bladder to get the bladder to open. Mine tends to shut when it wants hence retentiion. If it aint that its frequency yet retention at the same time. Oh for normal sensation eh.

Thanks all for taking the time to reply. I didn’t receive any notifications of replies otherwise I’d of replied sooner. I think I’ll get one and give it a try. Urine retention is my biggest problem and I’ve been taught to use intermittent self catheterisation but haven’t got in with it very well. Sometimes my bladder empties properly but other times it doesn’t. This is definitely worth a try.

Hi, I’m struggling regarding my toilet habits. I do manage to empty some of my bladder whilst sitting on the toilet, but I guess I don’t empty my bladder properly cause sometimes as soon as I’ve stood up and washed my hands, I feel desperate to go again, so I do. Sometimes this is sufficient to solve the problem but sometimes it’s not; sometimes when I sit down to go again, I can’t. . However, when this happens, I can go whilst standing up. As horrible as it sounds, I’ve resorted to relieving myself whilst standing fully clothed downstairs, letting pads absorb the urine. I resort to this for two reasons; one is because I can’t go upstairs to the toilet again after just going, maybe 2 or more times, and two because this way I feel like my bladder empties completely.

I’m not happy with my predicament at all and wonder if anyone has experienced anything similar and whether you have any advice?

Thanks

Sue,

Have you thought of trying the 'Queens Square bladder stimulator - sound a lot safer then Woblyboys - using the heat from a hairdryer to help relax the bladder.

LDN works well -giving you back control of your bladder. Many pwms take it for this reason alone - apart from the other benefits.

Hello Sue30,

Everything you all said sounds so familliar, yup washing hands and wanting to go again. It is all so frustrating

Give ISC (Intermettanmt Self Cateterisation) a go. Talk to MS Nirse or Doctor. The catheters are easy to use and solve so many problems. I’m a bloke guess its different for women. Using them is a bit of a knack but well worth mastering. Better than pissing in a pad.

Take a look at my website, www.aid4disabled.com

Good luck,

Patrick

Thanks.

I really don’t fancy self catheterisation of any sort - it scares me! But I guess one day it’ll be tough!

Only heard about the Queens Square Bladder Stimulator today and I am interested in trying it.

Will look at your website.

Hi i live in london I too would like to know if anyone got any positve feedback on Queens Square Bladder Stimulator? im keen on this.

Campion - thanks for the reference to LDN - just looked it up properly. Sounds hopeful.

Helo Sue30

I also can vouch for LDN. It does take a few weeks to kick in. Helps with bladder control and also gives me more energy.

Can you get one via the nhs or do you have to buy one yourself?

When l googled Queens Square Bladder Stimulator - l am sure it said you can purchase for £23 - nhs - you would have to wait years for funding!!

Hi there Just wanted to say that I am a recent convert to self-catheterisation. It is wonderful and has changed my life. I never thought I would want to do it but it is great. I urge anyone who is not sure to give it a go. You may be pleasantly surprised! Teresa xx

i got a queens square from my continence nurse but it didnt seem to help much. i have a ritual of jiggling my stomach muscles, leaning forward and tapping - so glad the bathroom door has a lock, wouldnt want an audience!
