Advice please on a suprapubic cathter

Morning everyone, I went yesterday to see my urologist, I’ve been having Botox injected into my bladder for about the last 4yrs, due to urgency of needing to go to the loo, before this I went to the loo between 16/18 time in a 24hr cycle. Anyway on a recent visit to my GP

, due to problems down below I was told I’d got a double prolapse and may need a ring pessary fitted, so she referred me back to urology to see what the consultant thought, so anyway he’s basically told me my bladder is now useless and the ring pessary won’t work, so its been decided that a suprapubic catheter is the way to go, not what I really want, but its either that, or a permanent bag, which I personally didn’t want, the suprapubic catheter hides within my underwear and then at night I will attach a bag. So I just wanted to ask anyone who has 1 of these how do you find it.

Thanks in advance Jean

Hi Jean, you may recall, I’ve had an SPC for 10 years or so.

Most of that has been ok. But for the past 2 years, it is troublesome.

I’ve had botox twice and it still isnt as good as it was.

Sorry to hear about your prolapse. I dont have that but my sis does and the ring thing didnt work for her.

with an spc you can have it on vlave and empty it as you feel the need. That doesnt work for me, so I have a day bag and change to a night bag at bedtime.

I have it changed very 3 weeks. I cant go longer as t blocks and bypasses.
Any thing else you want to know chick?

Boudsxx

So thank you Bouds, mine with have a tap, well that how Mr Bryan described it, so I’ll use the tap during the day and then have the bag on overnight, its not ideal, but if it works, you just get so fed up of all these changes that MS does to you body. Sorry the Botox hasn’t worked for you, Mr Bryan did tell me once that it can stop working, clearly for me and you it has. Take care Bouds and have a good day.

Jean x
