put it into words

Heys guys and gals, Hope your all coping well ? How do you explain the feelings you get in your arms legs etc ? Before my pain was under control it was quite simple but without the pain I find it hard to explain quite what I feel :-s Krissy

Hi Krissy, it is very interesting to read your post as I have a particular feeling I only experience in my legs and when I have tried to explain it to my past ms specialist.and my ms nurse they both looked at me and said never heard of it. so here it is, it is unpredictable in its timing but more likely to occur when im walking up an incline or stairs and more regularly when im tired. I describe the feeling as my sick legs because if anyone asks me to tell them how it feels I say, think how you feel when your experiencing terrible nausea then try and project that horrible feeling into your legs instead of your head thats how they feel. Its a bizarre way to describe it but I cannot even after years find just the right equivalent description… Not a lot of help for you really lovely. Perhaps someone else will come up trumps. Best wishes Joy x

Hi Joy, I think that’s a really great way to describe it because most people can relate to that feeling and I totally understand what you mean. I have constant feelings like i’m getting terrible cramps but there isn’t any cramp and I feel like my limbs are some how not mine especially my right arm and left foot. I know what you mean about people look at you weird, my doctor used to look at me like I was completely potty! Krissy

I saw a post on here where someone descibed their legs as feeling ‘fizzy’, and I completely relate to that - it sums up perfectly how my legs often feel. Another similar one is that my legs feel like a swarm of little midges swirling round.

The feeling you get when the injection you had at the dentist is starting to wear off - lips feel numb and sort of thick and rubbery but with a bit of a tingle too - thats how my hands and feet feel quite a lot of the time.

Hi floopy, I have that numbing feeling in 4 toes in my right foot, for some reason my big toe has normal sensation but other 4 feel odd most of time. And I also get spontaneous loss of feeling in fingers on both hands oh and my lips forgot them, I drool  oh dear what I wreck. Hehe I suppose if I spent more time thinking about it I could find lots of other things but they are such a part of my life now I dont think much about the however on a personal note and I mention this because I know there will be many who share this frustrating prob, there are days when the numbing and poor dexterity of my fingers make wiping my bum a but of a bugga!! A wreck. Joy xx
