Pressure sore update

Hi all

Hope everyone is staying safe? You might remember me saying that I had a stage 1 pressure sore which I have kept off and not worn shoes since before lockdown. I was putting cream and dressing it everyday with duoderm just to protect it from the skin breaking if it were bashed. Well I spoke to my GP last night and asked him if he knew what a healing pressure sore looked like. He wasn’t sure and asked me to send a photograph. So my husband removed the dressing today to do a photo and it looked like a massive blister that hadn’t popped but sadly popped when hubby removed the dressing. My question is are they supposed to look like a blister when it’s recovering?

really hoping someone knows as Dr didn’t seem to.

thanks x

To be honest, blisters can be a problem when wearing new shoes, but apparently pressure sores can blister if they get worse.

I always see a blister as part of the healing process. After it pops, keep it clean and wait for a scab to form. There may be an itchy phase too. Resist! Perhaps a few days with an antiseptic on the dressing before letting fresh air work its magic.

Best wishes.
