PIP tribunal won, how long to wait for letter confiming new Award, and backpay

On friday 27th Oct,2017, i won my PIP appeal. i was origoinally awarded nothing, so i then did a mandontary consideration, and was awarded std care, still awarded nothing on mobility. i then appealed and have been awarded by the panel Enhanced rate on both. i’m wondering how long before i recieve the notification and the back pay i’m due? I cannot find any info regarding this question on the gov.uk site or anywhere? Am i meant to be calling them n nagging or wait? I’m very worried that they will try n contest the desision/get out of paying what they owe?

Has anyone got any answers?

I can’t find any info at all on this!!

I’m sorry, I can’t tell you when you’ll get the notification or the money. I just wanted to say well done. Continuing to fight through all these setbacks must have been hard work and stressful. I can’t see that the DWP would attempt to challenge it.

Congratulations on the result.

I hope more people challenge their bad decisions.

I cant comment on PIP as I didn't qualify but as for anything else I was entitled to I kept on and on at them until I got results I was owed. Its not the way it should be but I expect many people just give up or find it too stressful. It appears to me that anything that involves paying you is all kept hush hush in the hope that you will not continue with it. That’s why there is nothing on the website. The bottom line is if you dont ask you dont get. Keep on asking too.

Hey hey well done you about time we started getting good news these decisisions shouldn’t even have to get to this level, it’s benefit that we need to make life that little more bearable. You should have a phone number for dip on one of your pip letters, get onto them and find out where your money is and when your money is going to start, it’s your money your right to ask so get onto them at 0900 tomorrow and get some answers, once again a big well done

Excuse my ignorance but I can’t see how Royal Mail become involved in a government appeal, I was under the impression that dip always has a rep in the court at appeal stage there was for brother in law because the judge ripped the ar*e off them so they new they had lost the appeal. If I am wrong I apologise

It’s atos and capita that need to be under the spot light they are the evidence gatherers but their reports are very inconsistent it’s them that are being pressurised by the government and their agents are driven by monetary rewards. I’m not tarring them all with the same brush but it needs looking at I think we all know that.

Brilliant news! Fay

Hi congratulations on your win I also won at the tribunal on 18/10/17 and am due 5 months backdate.the information II have after a phone cal to DWP is there is currently a backlog resulting in backdated payments taking approx three weeks to process so I’m due mine sometime next week fingers crossed.don’t worry about them not contacting you right away as this appears normal procedure however look out for a letter from pip saying WE NEED SOME MORE INFORMATION. asking aa few questions have you been inhospital, prison etc.since and will be from the date your back payment is due.ljust fill it in and put a 1st class stamp and post it back.hope this helps and I will report back when they pay me so will give you a good idea when you’ll get yours after posting back that letter.kind regards.

Hello. I have a question in relation to this thread. I won a tribunal appeal 2 weeks ago and have read up a lot about backpayments etc. I understand the processes the DWP may follow to have it overturned and also understand there may be delay in having the paperwork sent to me. What I am unsure of is, I had a missed call from DWP with a voicemail asking me to call back and also a text message asking the same. It has unnerved me as I have extreme anxiety, additionally I can’t think why they would want to speak to me unless it is for their benefit as surely anything further now would be communicated in writing, for example, if they reqquest a statement of reason and then make an appeal, I would get a notification of it. Does anyone know why they would be calling me and asking I call back? I understandably do not trust them. Thanks in advance for any input. JG

Hello, I won my PIP tribunal appeal 2 weeks ago and have been reading in the forums about when my payments should start and so I understand the possible delays due to the DWP challenging the ruling and backlog etc. However, I received a missed call from the DWP and a voicemail asking I return the call along with a text message asking the same. I have extreme anxiety and this has worried me and I am also worrying about having to call them back as I do not understand why they would telephone me as surely any further communication should be in writing such as a copy of their request for a statement of reason or their intention to appeal or the actual claim confirmation. Does anyone know what they might want?

I couldn’t work out how to post as couldn’t see my post so im sorry if it shows a few times

Hi Aceman69 I received a missed call from the DWP and a voicemail asking I return the call along with a text message asking the same. I’m not sure from your post here whetehr this is normal an whetehr they called you, too. Actually, just read message again, they send a letter out asking if beeen in hospital, prison etc that need sending back and it was you who called them. I’m confued by whythey’re calling me.

I won a PIP appeal. It took two weeks from the news I’d won from the tribunal to a letter from DWP changing the award and DWP paid on the same day.

“Does anyone know why they would be calling me and asking I call back? I understandably do not trust them.”

I don’t know why they would call. What a pain. I’d call them soon. Hope they’re just checking bank accounts for some reason.

Best wishes.

Hi vith, thanks for your message. It was exactly that, to check bank details and also check if I’d been out of the country, in prison, hospital etc. All formalities. Panic over

Hi I’ve been lurking this site for a few months now since my wife had to claim pip after being on DLA (awarded lifetime). She was originally awarded 6 and 4 points for living and mobility, did the MR that came back with no change and made us out to be utter liars. Well yesterday my wife had her tribunal, lasted 30 minutes and 10 minutes for the decision, 18 points and 12 points. You can imagine the relief, nearly 8 months of stress, my wife feeling that life wasn’t worth living, our daughter whom is a young career and had been since she was 9 she’s 18 now felt like she wasn’t a career anymore.

I was told by the clerk that in our area it is taking around 2-3 weeks for pip to start and any back dated payments to come through. On the letter the clerk gave us detailing what points were awarded and in what descriptors , just above this is stated when your claim will be back dated to, my wife’s last payment was on 17 September 2017 and so the award starts from the following day and it showed that it will run for 5 years. I came here to find out like the original poster if this is standard or is it now new that they tell you when your claim will be back dated to. I’m just glad it’s finally over, I know for a fact the only way the DWP can dispute the claim is by way of error in law by the tribunal. Also I know when we first claimed for pip they took my bank details over the phone and also on the claim form, as this is where our benefits to anyway. Would finally like to say anyone thinking of giving up please don’t, I know it’s hard, real hard at times, but that’s what they want and to thank all the people on this site whom have posted information before that I’ve took snippets from, sites like this are priceless?

That’s fantastic… well done for going to tribunal i wish i had i lost my car due to my PIP award been lower than my DLA was.I know i should have appealed and i would have had a good chance of winning but at the time i was having a bad time with other stuff and was having a bad relapse so just couldn’t face it at all.I love to hear of people winning the tribunals.

I’ve never been through so much stress in my entire life.I lost my dla in December last payment.Mind went 2 court I’ve just got the paperwork 2 day I won. What a utter nightmare they put disable people through

Congratulations on getting so far.

The money should be with you soon.

Aren’t the Tribunal people nice.
